According to the defect report, the low pressure fuel pump assemblies in these vehicles may have been manufactured with plastic burrs remaining on the jet nozzle. These burrs could restrict the fuel flow to the engine enough to cause the engine to stop. A vehicle stall could increase the risk of a crash, especially during high speeds.

Kia and Hyundai will be contacting owners of affected vehicles with instructions to return to their dealers to have the jet nozzle housing assembly inspected and replaced as necessary. Kia's number for this recall is SC198, Hyundai's number for this recall is 005G and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V560 for Kia and 20V-569 for Hyundai.
