General Motors has decided that certain 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks may have a defect that is affecting the braking safety of the vehicle.

According to the recall report, some of the bolts used to attach the front and/or rear brake calipers, may have not been properly heat treated at the supplier. These bolts do not meet GM specifications for strength and could fail under load. If this happens the affected brake caliper may fail, causing reduced braking and could interfere with the wheel rotation.

Owners receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealers to have the brake caliper bolts replaced. GM's number for this recall is N202294420 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-116.
