Hyundai will be contacting the owners of certain 2017-2018 Genesis sedans regarding a problem affecting the turbocharge oil supply in their automobiles. The vehicles affected include:

2018 Genesis G80 sedans equipped with 3.3 liter turbocharged engines.

2017-2018 Genesis G90 sedans equipped with 3.3 liter turbocharged engines.

According to the defect report, the affected vehicles were built with a turbocharge oil supply pipe assembly that may have been manufactured with insufficient swaging pressure on the center union fitting. This insufficient pressure could result in a loose seal that may allow oil to leak onto the exhaust manifold, potentially causing an engine compartment fire.

Those receiving recall notices will be asked to return to their Hyundai dealers to have the turbocharger oil supply pipe replaced. The recall is expected to begin September 6, 2019. Hyundai's number for this recall is 003G and the NHTSA campaign number is 19V538000.
