Nissan will be recalling certain 2015-2019 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles due to a manufacturing error with the ADVICS ABS actuators. The subject vehicles may contain actuators with an oil seal with inadequate sealing performance. Temperature variations coupled with poor tension force can adversely affect the sealing capabilities. The problem could cause the oil seal to wear prematurely and eventually lead to a brake fluid leak. Low oil will activate the ABS warning lamp, but if the warning is ignored the brake fluid leak could create an electrical short in the actuator circuit which could lead to a fire. The vehicles affected by this defect include:

  • 2016-2018 Nissan Maxima
  • 2015-2018 Nissan Murano
  • 2017-2019 Nissan Pathfinder
  • 2017-2019 Infiniti QX60

Dealers will correct the problem by replacing the ABS actuator. Owners will receive a notice alerting them of the problem with a second notice when parts become available. Note: If the ABS warning light remains illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.
