Subaru of America will be contacting the owners of certain 2017-2019 Impreza, 2018-2019 Crosstrek and 2019 Forester vehicles for two separate recalls.

The first recall affects certain 2018-2019 Crosstrek gas and hybrid electric vehicles and 2019 Forester gas powered vehicles.

After receiving reports about an abnormal noise from the rear of a Subaru vehicle, the manufacturer did a rough road driving evaluation which showed that the rear stabilizer bracket bolts had loosened and the bracket shifted. According to the defect report, a variation in the rear stabilizer bracket dimensions may result in a larger than expected gap between the bracket and the vehicle body. If a gap exists, a portion of the bolt axial force may be used to close the gap, but if the initial torque applied to the bolt is at the lower torque limit the bracket could loosen and detach.

Subaru dealers will re-torque and replace any missing bolts. Subaru's number for this recall is WRD-21 and the NHTSA campaign number 21V-263.

The second recall affects certain 2018-2019 Crosstrek and 2017-2019 Impreza gas powered vehicles.

According to the defect report, an improper engine control module (ECM) programming could cause the ignition coil to be energized longer than designed. If the ignition coil remains energized for too long, the internal temperature could increase and cause a short circuit and a blown fuse. The problem could result in irregular vibrations, cylinder misfire and a loss of motive power.

Subaru will notify owners to return to their dealers to have the ECM software updated and replace the ignition coils and, if necessary, the front exhaust pipe.  Subaru's number for this recall is WRE-21 and the NHTSA campaign number is 21V-264.  Note: This recall includes all vehicles previously repaired under Recall 19V-743.
