Volvo will be contacting the owners of certain 2019-2020 Sedans, Wagons and SUVs regarding a problem affecting the automatic emergency braking (AEB) in their vehicles.

According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, a missing software code in the active safety domain master (ASDM) creates an incompatibility with the AEB. As a result, the AEB intellisafe may not always detect obstacles and engage as intended.  The problem can increase the risk of a collision.

Vehicles Affected
2019-2020 Volvo S60, S90 Sedans
2019-2020 Volvo V60, V60CC, V90, V90CC Wagons
019-2020 Volvo XC40, XC60, XC90 SUVs

Dealers will correct the problem by updating the Active Safety Domain Master (ASDM) software. Volvo's number for this recall is R29998 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-114.
