AIR BAGS

Potential Consequences:

07/30/25 - Over the course of 1 week, I have received three dashboard warnings "Supplemental Restraint System Problem. See Your Dealer" It goes away once car turns off. Honda of Katy states to bring in when alert still on dashboard (which will disappear when car turned off) but quoted will be required to sign a $215 diagnostic fee. No charge if it is just an error code. But $215 can be used toward repair. This is a SAFETY ISSUE and should be a SAFETY RECALL as owners should not need to pay for manufacturer DEFECTS. I can not afford to fix since still paying off the known issue of fuel injectors failing but not yet SAFETY RECALLED. Please help.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Honda has known for years that the 1.5L engines installed in 2018 or newer Honda Accords have issues with oil dilution causing major catastrophic engine failures, head gasket damage, fluids leaking into the cylinders, and costly repairs to cars with less than 86000 miles on them. Honda Corporation needs to address this concern before someone dies when the cars engine fails on the highway. My vehicles engine failed on a major road when I pushed on the gas peddle and had no power due to these concerns. Dealership stated numerous vehicles are coming in with these concerns right now which begs the question that it is not a one off situation but a failure of Honda Corporation.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

While attempting to pass a slower vehicle in my 2018 Honda Accord with a 1.5L engine, the suddenly lost power and stalled down to 20 mph while I was alongside the other vehicle. This unexpected power loss put my life and the lives of others at serious life threatening risk. I immediately brought the care to a Honda dealership, where the tech was able to reproduce the issue. The performed a borescope inspection and confirmed that coolant was present inside one of the cylinders, indicating a failed cylinder head gasket. This type of failure should not happen, especially on a vehicle like this. I was the repair would cost $6,500. After researching, I learned that this is a known defect affecting the 1.5L engine and that multiple class action lawsuits have been filed. I also discovered that American Honda is aware of the problem and has instructed dealership service departments to report affected vehicles. In fact, they have even offered gift cards to service advisors who report these cases, but are charging customers for the repairs. That's nonsense. Just do a simple google search and you will discover what I did. During the failure, the check engine light and several other warning lights came on but only the check engine remained on. Since then the car has multiple indicator lights on. Despite multiple attempts to follow-up, the dealership has refused to return my calls. This is a serious life threatening safety concern that deserves immediate investigation. Thank you. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Car had a rough start one morning. The engine light came on. All safety features were disabled. I took it to the car dealership that same day (sunset Honda San Luis Obispo California) they got back to me and said the car had head gasket failure. The dealership was the only person to do any meaningful mechanical work ( I did the oil changes) including transmission fluid and coolant changes spark plugs, belt sand valve adjustments etc. car is driven lightly as a daily commuter for work

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

This is regarding TSB 21-087, Warranty Extension for 2018 Accord Paint B-757P Still Night Pearl. I was not informed in writing as per required customer notification in 2001. The extended warranty was for 7 years from date of purchase with no mileage limit. When I noticed the paint peel on the roof seams on the left side and right side of the roof, I asked the local dealership today on 7/25/2025. They said I was a few weeks past the expiration date and I had to contact American Honda. While at the dealership getting maintenance performed, I contacted them via chat and they directed me to call instead. I called Honda and they said once the expiration date has passed, there was nothing to be done. I asked for good will and she declined. They will not provide email of incident, as per my request, from discussion but did open case and assigned a case number. Honda stated my only recourse was to pay for damage out of my pocket or wait to see if Honda will possibly extend the warranty and that it was my responsibility to contact them since they will not provide any notification again. So, my vehicle will continue to rust from the paint peel on the roof on a daily basis in the Florida sun. Or I have the option to pay out of pocket now and, if warranty extension approved request reimbursement.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway where the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the head gasket, resulting in a misfire in cylinder #3. The contact was informed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened for a goodwill assistance claim, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact was later informed that the goodwill assistance request was denied due to a lack of service records with a Honda dealer. The failure mileage was 74,000. The VIN was not available.
