Defect Description:

STRUCTURE:BODY

Potential Consequences:

On Sunday June 5, 2022, I had to remove my 2019 Porsche Macan S right rear tire because it had a screw in it. I ahd to do it that day because its leaking had increased and it went totally flat, while I had been waiting many days for my purchased tire and road hazard service. I removed the tire and put in a temporary plug so it could be taken to the servicing dealer, Porsche Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday June 7, 2022. While I was doing this work, the right rear jack lift point on the car failed and moved sideways towards the inboard of the car, allowing the jack to move under the car. Fortunately I was able to get the tire back on, but the car fell onto the jack and was damaged. The trim pieces and right rear door were damaged. I have pictures of the damage and the failed jack point. I was using the Porsche supplied jack and at all times followed all Porsche directions from the Porsche supplied “Good To Know” app, to the letter. On June 8, 2020 the dealership contacted me and confirmed that the jack point had failed and required replacement. They are also obtained an estimate of the cost to repair the damage to my vehicle caused by the jack point failure. I was very lucky not to have been injured. I believe this is a serious safety problem. I will provide more information upon request, including pictures. I was unable to load the pictures from my cell phone on this report.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

Car intermittently reverses in drive while coming out of park (on flat surfaces). Provided videos of incidents to Porsche but they have not been able to identify the issue. This has almost caused an accident. Two people were standing behind my car when I put the car in drive but it reversed. Dealer has investigated (very cursory) on multiple occasions now based on the video evidence but has been unable to replicate the issue (since it’s intermittent) and therefore will not take action. (I can provide videos but there is no option to do so on this upload). Incident date below is most recent incident.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

THE SMALL PORTABLE AIR PUMP THAT CAME WITH THE CAR WOULD BLOW THE FUSE TO THE CIGARETTE 12 V OUTLET ON ABOUT EVERY THIRD OR FOURTH USE. THIS WOULD HAPPEN EACH TIME AFTER YOU PUT IN A NEW 20AMP FUSE. I CAN'T TELL WHETHER THIS IS CAUSED BY THE AIR PUMP OR THE CIRCUITRY ON THE CAR. I HAVE GONE THROUGH FIVE FUSES ALREADY.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

THE ISSUE IS THE SQUEAKING OF THE REAR BRAKES WHEN BACKING UP. THE WOULD HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN. THIS HAPPENS IN COLD OR HOT WEATHER. A FACTORY DEALERSHIP HAD LOOK AT THE ISSUE BUT FOUND NOTHING. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE CAR WAS ABOUT TWO TO THREE MONTHS OLD. I ALSO HAVE A 2020 AUDI Q7, AND IT HAS ALMOST THE SAME ISSUE WHEN BACKING UP. HOWEVER, IT DOES MORE IN THE MORNING WHETHER THE WEATHER IS HOT OR COLD. WE VISITED AN AUDI DEALERSHIP BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING. A SEPARATE COMPLAINT HAD BEEN FILED UNDER MY NAME AS WELL. BOTH CARS HAVE THE SAME 3.0L V6 ENGINE.

Potential Consequences:

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 PORSCHE MACAN. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH OR MORE, THE VEHICLE VEERED FROM SIDE TO SIDE.
