Safety Issue:

Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (Gulf States) is recalling certain 2017 4Runner , 86, Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Corolla iM, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Prius, Prius C, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, Sienna and Yaris vehicles. The spare tire air pressure was not adjusted to the proper pressure as stated on the Tire Pressure Label.

Potential Risk:
A spare tire that is not inflated to the proper value may not perform as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Gulf States will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the spare tires, adjusting their pressure as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 15, 2017. Owners may contact Gulf States customer service at 1-800-444-1074. Toyota's number for this recall is 17R2.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NEEDED TO BE DEPRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE TO NORMAL SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.

I ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS WHILE DRIVING ON A ROUNDABOUT AT A LOW SPEED IN A LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER. I AM A SAFE, CAUTIOUS DRIVER AND PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR MYSELF BECAUSE OF ITS EXCELLENT CRASH-SAFETY RATINGS. I WILL NO LONGER DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THE REAR-END STABILITY PROBLEM, SO MY SPOUSE TOOK OVER DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS MORNING, HE RETURNED FROM AN OUTING AND SAID THAT THE CAR FISHTAILED THREE TIMES TODAY, WHILE MAKING BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS. THE STREETS ARE DAMP TODAY (FROM AN OVERNIGHT RAIN). THE CAR IS DEALERSHIP-MAINTAINED; THE TIRES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION AND ARE PROPERLY INFLATED. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE BEHAVE IN THIS MANNER (HAVE OWNED OR CURRENTLY OWN AND DRIVE HONDA ACCORD, MAZDA B2200 PICKUP, MERCEDES 300SE, SUBARU FORESTER, VW JETTA, GM SIERRA PICKUP, FORD F150 PICKUP).
