STEERING
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, a message indicating that the electronic power steering needed to be serviced was displayed, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that the vehicle was significantly difficult to steer. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road by using physical strength to steer the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the steering wheel responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V086000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

After having the car for a year with regular maintenance and service, out of nowhere car was giving electrical problems that was making my car battery die and the ABS brake system giving out completely to the point where the vehicle has no brakes at all & engine failure due to cylinder #1 no compression, car kept giving codes p0300 , C0299 , B1517 , notice there’s an service bulletin from GM NO. Pi1178F is know as a common problem for LTG engines, also the only way I found out that the engine was damaged when I took the vehicle to the dealership for diagnostic and was told that one of the Cylinders had no compression which had came down the line that an Piston ring had internally damaged my engine, vehicle has 145K and was running smoothly until sudden electrical problems.

Driving back from several trips out of state. On I15, the car shut completely off, while moving. Everything powers off. Car still in motion. Have to push the ignition button to turn back on and resume power and turned the car back on. The has happened now 5 times since i bought the car brand new in 2017. The dealer has never been able to reproduce issue. Are my charging cables for phones and ipod shorting out the car?? I dont know. It's the only thing that might be an issue.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Within a month or so after purchasing this vehicle with less that 20 miles the transmission would studder. I informed the dealership several times. I was told this was a known issue and it was just related to transmission fluid type. I brought the car in for a transmission flush and the problem seemed to go away. It has returned and is causing safety risk. Besides the annoying grinding noise, I have experienced safety related issues concerning this issue. At the moment you need to accelerate the car pausing and slips gears. This has put me at risk on many occasion since owning the vehicle. When needing merge or get over into traffic this has been very dangerous. GM has made no attempt to permanently fix the issue.
Corrective Action:

At the moment you need to accelerate the car pausing and slips gears. This has put me at risk on many occasion since owning the vehicle. When needing merge or get over into traffic this has been very dangerous. GM has made no attempt to permanently fix the issue.

Within a month or so after purchasing this vehicle with less that 20 miles the transmission would studder. I informed the dealership several times. I was told this was a known issue and it was just related to transmission fluid type. I brought the car in for a transmission flush and the problem seemed to go away. It has returned and is causing safety risk. Besides the annoying grinding noise, I have experienced safety related issues concerning this issue. Potential Consequences:
-The Air bag light on the dashboard it's coming up, stays on, the passenger seat reader light stays on even if there is no nobody seating and when a person seats on passenger seat the passenger air bag sensor light says is off. -Yes I'm available for inspection upon request. -The safety of the passenger and mine is in risk everytime I use the car. -It has never been inspected by that problem before ( but based on socialmedia grups with the same car we have the issue) -never had a check engine light on.

SEAT BELTS
Potential Consequences:
The safety retention cable associated with securing the the driver's seat belt to the driver's seat broke. The stainless steel cable, being approximately 1/4" to 5/16" in diameter, became disconnected from the entire driver's side seat belt. Making the seat belt totally unusable to the driver of the vehicle. It is unknown what caused the cable to because cut and/or fail but, I am a 30 year military aviation maintenance veteran who has seen my fair share of material failure and the manner in which this cable failed is absolutely due to a material defect.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Transmission in the 2016 and up 6 speed manual will pop out of second gear and making horrible grinding noises upon engaging and releasing clutch. I know several people who have had this issue and they told me GM is aware of the issue but ignoring it but it is a safety issue because it leaves a person in neutral in traffic when shifting to second it will go in and pop out. It is defective transmission housing in these expensive cars and mines has been doing it since I have had it and it is definitely the defective transmission housing and there is even a YouTube video on it. This needs to be addressed before Gm gets sued for this. Pandemic has made it even harder to get dealership to get stuff done because personally my car sat at Butler Chevrolet in Macon two months and they still never touched it and told us to come get my vehicle because they had no one to work on it and they had us in a loaner car with improper tags and registration issues and we reported that to local authorities and we are planning to sue them also if they don't settle for the discrimination and hard time they gave us letting my car sit months for no reason just to tell me they had no qualified technician to work on it and they had got my car full of ants and insects. We need this recalled so that anyone with these dangerous transmissions will get it repaired. Don't do your customers like this we are well aware of what's happening here. We pay good money for these cars. Recall these things before it leads to bigger class action issues and I'm a car truck guy and very mechanically inclined and have many friends who have these cars in manual and some of them have had transmission replacement due to defective housing and that solved the issue.
