General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 vehicles equipped with certain accessory road tires and a 17" spare tire. The 17" spare tire provided with the vehicle is not compatible for use with the accessory wheels, which can cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) to not function properly under certain conditions.

This software has an error, and as a result, the vehicle's electronic brake assist may be disabled. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Cadillac CT6, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. Due to an Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) software error, the vehicle's Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Antilock Brake System (ABS) may become disabled. Furthermore, if this specific error occurs, the vehicle's diagnostics will not illuminate the instrument cluster ESC and ABS malfunction warning lights. THE FIRST TIME BACKING UP IN MY DRIVEWAY I NOTICED THE BACKUP CAMERA FLICKERED EVERYTIME I TOUCHED THE BRAKE PEDAL. I REPEATED BACKING UP SEVERAL TIMES AND AT ONE POINT THE BACKUP CAMERA FLICKERED AND WENT OFF (SCREEN WENT BLANK/BLACK WITH A MESSAGE "SERVICE REAR VISION SYSTEM". WHEN THE BACKUP CAMERA CAME BACK ON THE GUIDELINES FOR BACKING UP HAD DISAPPEARED. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE GUIDELINES BACK ON THE SCREEN UNTIL I CHANGED THE SHIFTER TO DRIVE OR PARK THEN BACK INTO REVERSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. MULTIPLE WARNING SCREENS APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND INFOTAINMENT SCREEN. THEY FLASH ON AND OFF, LIKE A LIGHT SHOW, AND ARE EXTREMELY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. EACH TIME THEY FLASH ON THEY CAUSE ME TO LOOK DOWN AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I AM CONCERNED THIS DISTRACTION WILL CAUSE ME TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT. THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO TO TURN THEM OFF. THESE WARNINGS RANDOMLY APPEAR WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, BE IT STATIONARY, IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET OR A HIGHWAY, TURNING, BRAKING, PULLING A TRAILER, NOT PULLING A TRAILER. THIS SAFETY RISK HAS BEEN ONGOING EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW ONE MONTH AGO. I LIVE IN MINNESOTA. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS TWICE, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT GM HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE ISSUE SINCE LAST FALL, BUT HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.
