SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
07/28/2025 10:35am, We had just pulled onto an Interstate ramp and the engine powered down and the dashboard began flashing errors, service engine soon light came on. The following errors were displayed: Reduce speed to 62 mph, brake system failure, Service traction control, Service ESC, Service steering column lock, Trailer brakes disabled service required. I had no brakes and had to pump them to get stopped. I was able to pull to the side of the road and shut off the engine. I called dealer and reported issue as this occurred last Tuesday. They advised to bring the vehicle in at 0800 tomorrow. I restarted the vehicle and system reset and I was able to continue. At 12:58pm, I pulled off the interstate ramp onto a county road and the engine powered down again and displayed the same errors. The brakes did not fail this time and I was able to get home.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
DEF System will count miles down saying it is going to put you into limp mode while towing, when there is 3/4 plus DEF fluid in the tank. This caused me several times speed slow downs under 65 to try to make it to a safe place to add under 2 gallons to fill a 5 plus gallon tank on 70 to 80 mph highways a few times at dusk and night with limited off off travel lane access! This is telling you it will put your vehicle in limp mode! Again causing a dangerous situation! I very much feared for my well-being along a dark road with cars going 70 plus while I was trying to add DEF to a 3/4 full tank only taking around 2 gallons!!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
There is no sound from the entertainment system, this happens randomly about once a week. The Safty concern is that when this happens there is no sound for anything including directionals, other warnings and this can cause a Safty issue. The only way to have the system work again is to shut the vehicle off for ten minutes and restart. My vehicle has had the software updated at the dealership about every three months since I purchased it, and to no avail.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Component/System Failed: Power Train – specifically, the #6 lifter failed and is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The failure caused noticeable engine misfiring, loss of power, and abnormal ticking sounds, which could potentially lead to engine stalling while driving. This creates a serious safety risk, especially during highway driving or merging situations. Confirmation of Problem: The issue was confirmed by a certified GM dealership technician, who diagnosed the failure of the #6 lifter. They advised that the lifter and potentially the camshaft need replacement. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service department. No inspection has been conducted by police or insurance at this time. Warning Signs: Prior to failure, there were no warning lamps. However, the vehicle began exhibiting a noticeable ticking noise followed by rough idling and reduced performance approximately 71,000 miles.

Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
We took our vehicle to Weber Chevrolet in Granite City, Il on June 26 for an oil change. My husband and I purchased the vehicle on [XXX] from this dealership. We asked if they could put a heavier oil in the vehicle due to this being as one of the remedial fixes for the recall. The service department manager informed us that they would not be able to do this due to it voiding our warranty. They could not give a general answer as to when they will address the recall. My husband and I have safety concerns about taking this vehicle cross country for a family vacation at the end of July. We have decided to trade the vehicle in for a different model due to the uncertainty of the recall. Appallingly, no dealership, including the Chevy dealership we bought it from , is willing to take our 9 month old truck as a trade. We were informed by three separate dealerships that the car is basically worthless and they are not willing to have it sit on their lots depreciating until the recall is complete. It is completely unacceptable that we, as consumers, are stuck with a vehicle that has a potential safety risk. The car has already depreciated by $10,000 according to Kelly Blue Book. We have filed a complaint with the BBB, Illinois States Attorney Office, and with General Motors. General Motors informed me on July 2 that they will not address the recall until an issue occurs. If an issue occurs then they will address it at that time. Furthermore , they are not willing to buy the vehicle back, attempt to see if the engine is fine, nor willing to allow us to trade for another GMC vehicle. We are at a loss as far as our safety, loss of investment, and lack of any help from General Motors. I am adding screen shots of my communication with the general manager from Weber Chevrolet, jimmy Mckechan. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
