Recall Date: Oct 24, 2024
Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with diesel engines. The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock-up.

Potential Risk:
Rear wheel lock-up can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will install new transmission control module software, free of charge. GM will provide a special coverage program to cover the repair of transmissions that are identified by the remedy software as containing a defective control valve. Recall Date: Feb 1, 2024
Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park.

Potential Risk:
An unlatched tailgate may open while driving and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Recall Date: Sep 29, 2021
Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles with electronic brake control modules (EBCM) replaced during vehicle assembly. The bolts that attach the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly may not be properly tightened, which could fail to seal the two sub-assemblies and allow water intrusion.

Potential Risk:
Water in the BPMV may cause an electrical short circuit and increase the risk of fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Owners are advised to park outside and away from other structures until the recall repair is completed. Dealers will replace the BPMV assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 20, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Potential Consequences:

I recieved a recall notice for this vehicle. When I went to my local dealership {Michael Hohl GMC Carson City Nevada} I was told that I would be better off to wait until my transmission fails because the repair parts are almost non existant. I am now reluctant to drive my $90,000 truck because of an inevitable rear wheel lockup situation.

My 2022 Chevy Silverado has been to 4 different GMC/Chevrolet Dealerships since August 2024 and is currently broken down in Indiana at Sauers Buick GMC Although, it has been to 4 different dealerships to confirm there is a Faulty Part of the Transmission, Part # 24048701 A Body Control Valve, i have been on the waiting List since August 2024 for this part at 4 different dealers ships Some days it drives fine, and others it will flash a message that it is in Reduced Power Mode and it will not shift properly at this point There is no parts available, so i have continued to drive my truck since i am making payments on it. It Broke down and would not shift into Gear on October 31, 2024 in Indiana. At that point It flashed an error message that the Transmission was Hot. I called for a tow truck and had AAA tow it to the closes GMC Dealer Today is November 14, 2024, it has been at the same Dealership for 2 weeks with No Eta from the dealership or GMC corporate as to when it will be fixed. Since it has been undriveable for 2 weeks, what is my course of action? ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Message will appear that states : trailer brake system needs serviced “ When that appears and I am currently towing a trailer I lose all power to trailer including the brakes. I can’t signal I can’t use the trailer brakes. I’m towing 14,000 lbs and when I’m going down a 6% grade this is very dangerous. I have had vehicle in twice for this issue , first time I was told they replaced a controller, 2nd time they said no problems detected. For me to lose all power to tow vehicle is unacceptable and extremely dangerous

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Potential Consequences:

ATC LED Trailer running lights drop out after 2 or so hours of operation. The Trailer is being towed by a 2022 Silverado High Country 3500. I have had the Silverado into Serra Whelan Chevrolet to check the trucks trailer lighting system, said they thought it was the trailer, on 5/10/22. Talked with the service person there and he recommended I purchase a Curt resistance jumper plug part number 57003 because this is an issue with the truck not being able to see the low current drawing LED running lights. I bought the Curt part number 57003 and installed it between the truck and trailer plug. The running lights now drop our after about two hours of operation. I contacted Chevrolet customer service and started an issue # 9-10551955094 on 08/24/2023. Am going to try having Serra Whelan Chevrolet look at the trucks light circuit again. This is a serious safety issue, no trailer tail lights at night. This is an open issue not resolved by GM, I can only safely drive this trailer truck combination during the day, running lights drop out after around two hours of truck trailer operation...no solution has been found as yet.
