AFTER BEING PARKED FOR OVER 24 HOURS, WHEN WE STARTED THE VEHICLE WE GOT A MESSAGE SHIFT TO PARK. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR AND WAS UNDRIVEABLE. WE TRIED TO CONTACT ONSTAR FROM THE VEHICLE BUT THD CONNECTION KEPT BREAKING UP. WE GOT THROUGH ON OUR CELL AND WERE FORWARDED TO GM. THEY ORDERED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCECE. WHILE WAITING, WE AGAIN STARTED THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A BEW MESSAGE INITIALIZING: WAIT TO SHIFT BUT THE CAR DID NOT GO INTO GEAR. WHEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED, THEY ALSO TRIED WITHOUT SUCCESS. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY 2017 CHEVY VOLT IT GIVES ME A SHIFT TO PARK WARNING ON MY DISPLAY. IT WON'T TURN OFF AND WON'T LOCK. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP FIRST AVAILABLE ON 3/5/2021. THEY KEPT VEHICLE FOR FIVE AND A HALF DAYS WAITING ON THE PART AND OFFERED NO LOANER VEHICLE. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING N-HARNESS AND SL-N-SWITCH AND PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE VOLT ONCE AGAIN DISPLAYED THE SAME MESSAGE ON MARCH 20, 2021. I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON FEBRUARY 27,2021 WITH ONLY 25K MILES ON IT. I AM NOW FACED WITH CALLING THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TO REPAIR SOMETHING THEY SAID WAS FIXED AND PROBABLY SHOULD BE A RECALL BASED ON THE 27K OTHER CHEVY VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M HOPING THAT I DON'T HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET WITH ANY MORE MONEY TO GM ON SOMETHING THAT THEY SAY DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE VOLTEC WARRANTY. TRANSMISSION, WIRING HARNESS, OR THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY, DOES ANYONE REALLY KNOW WHICH ONE TO REPLACE BASED ON THREE DIFFERENT SERVICE BULLETINS. WHEN I TRY TO TURN OFF THE CAR, I PUT THE SHIFTER IN THE PARK POSITION AND THEN PRESS THE STOP BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE CAR. THE DASH SHOWS THE CAR IN PARK, BUT A MESSAGE SHOWS UP SAYING, "THE CAR NEEDS TO BE IN PARK BEFORE THE CARE CAN BE TURNED OFF". I CAN TRY SEVERAL TIMES AND GET THE SAME MESSAGE (P-D-P-D-P...) THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND THEN CONTINUOUS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SHIFTER (DESCRIBED AS A KNOWN PROBLEM) AS I WAS CONCERNED THAT I COULD NOT TURN OFF THE CAR IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY (GAS GENERATOR FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHORT, LI BATTERY OVERLOAD, ETC). ALSO, I COULD NOT LOCK THE CAR UNTIL SOME RESET CONDITION OCCURS 10-15 MINUTES LATER.

THE CAR CANNOT BE SHUT OFF. IT'S A REAL SAFETY HAZARD TO BE UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR BECAUSE THE SYSTEM WON'T RECOGNIZE THE CAR BEING IN PARK .
