STRUCTURE:BODY

Potential Consequences:

The doors on my vehicle are buckling. There are ripples in the sheet metal on all four doors where the metal meets the window glass. It appears to be some type of structural issue. Im worried if these doors are buckling under normal wear and tear im concerned if they are structurally sound if the vehicle were involved in a accident? Is the cause of this issue metal fatigue? I am not an engineer but there is obviously an issue with these doors that may be some type of safety issue. I brought this to the attention of Ford and they acknowledged the issue. They took photos of the issue but have not come up with a solution. While at the dealership having my vehicle inspected I observed several other Ford Broncos with the same issue. I provided photos of the issue but I must admit it is difficult to see.

Potential Consequences:

I had my vehicle taken to address its recall on the breaks. Within a few weeks time, my vehicle began creating excessive break dust on the front breaks and began making a grinding sound when backing up. I had my vehicle brought back into the dealership to have those items looked at and staff brushed this all off as being normal. However, the breaks never behaved this way before the "recall fix" and I'm concerned that all of these issues may point to a bigger issue. Did I buy a lemon or is this truly normal?

STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:SUPPORT DEVICE/STRUT

Potential Consequences:

Failed Window Assembly in Tail Gate resulting in broken tail gate window. Driving on A1A, Melbourne Beach FL, 630 am September 20th, 2022 45 mph heard very loud boom and saw that the high pressure cylinders that lift the back window blew apart and shattered the tail gate window obstructing my vision out of the rear window. The spontaneous combustions of the window assembly blew up and almost made me loose control of the vehicle. Nothing hit the window from inside or outside of the car. This car has been in maintenance on three other occasions to have the electrically operated systems repaired. I believe this is a manufacture defect. There is no explanation how this serious incident occurred and I fear for my safety driving this vehicle. I have filed a BBB Auto Claim, case number [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

When accelerating, there is a lag in shifting. The engine revs, but the vehicle doesn’t move, like it’s in neutral. This happens in normal mode, eco mode, and sport mode (the only modes tested so far). There is also a grinding noise sometimes when vehicle is lit in “Drive”. This is a safety problem, because it happened as my wife was turning onto a busy road, and the vehicle would not accelerate. Had to take foot off accelerator, then try acceding again a few times to finally get vehicle to start moving.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle got stuck in gear while traveling on highway. I would accelerate and the RPMs would shoot up but I was losing speed. I had to pull over, turn off the car and turn it back on. Some Ford dealerships told me they won’t even look at the transmission while others have a two week lead time to just look at it. I have no other cars to drive yet may or may not be offered a loaner depending on the problem. This is a huge safety risk because I can’t be going highway speeds and then lose speed and be going 25mph on a 55mph road! I am still waiting to get my car seen and there were no lights that showed on the dash.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while driving 20-30 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an oil change was completed. The contact then drove across the street and parked the vehicle. Upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle experienced a rough start. The contact was able to drive; however, the vehicle failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. A message indicating to park and restart the engine was displayed. The contact drove back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was no engine oil. Additionally, the independent mechanic diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V191000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which he associated with the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD

Potential Consequences:

The wind shields on these vehicles are cracking in abundance. My Bronco wind shield cracked on the passenger side from the edge across the window. No rock hit it. I just came out one morning and it was cracked. I've read many complaints on line from owners having this problem. Now you can't get new wind shields because there have been so many issues, they are on back order. I tried to contact Ford but they referred me to you. I do not believe this is normal.

The vehicle is being towed to a dealership as the vehicle had less than 12,400 miles and has been owned less than one year. Any/all components available for inspection. If driver had not had wherewithal to exit highway when they did, there certainly could have been a fatality incident.
