Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Potential Risk:
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Potential Risk:
A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim letter notifying owners of the safety risk was mailed September 21, 2020. A second letter will be sent once parts are available, which is expected to begin April 15, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Potential Risk:
If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began on July 5, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16 (S2). Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 17V-427.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Edge vehicles equipped with the optional Panoramic Vista Roof. These vehicles may have an improperly welded windshield header, reducing the vehicle's lateral structural integrity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Potential Risk:
If the vehicle has reduced lateral structural integrity, the occupants are at an increased risk of injury in the event of a side-impact crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the windshield header, free of charge. The recall began May 18, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for the recall is 17C05.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Potential Risk:
During deployment, if the air bag does not fully inflate or the cushion detaches, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began June 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17C02.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Issues with 2.0 L EcoBoost engine overheating. A mechanic using a camera to investigate revealed coolant intrusion in engine. Mechanic located Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #22-2133 which indicated it was a known problem by Ford and recommended engine replacement at owner's expense. This had to be performed by a Ford dealership so that the engine could be re-programmed using proprietary software. The out-of-pocket cost to replace the engine was $7,559.08, plus $183.00 for the tow to the dealership. The mechanic's shop charged $32.60 to diagnose the problem. This issue also led to simultaneously failure of the transmission which had to be replaced at a cost of $5,999.22.

At less than 70,000 miles on the engine, a check engine light came on (July 2025). To this point there had been no lights or warnings, but apparently there was coolant intruding into the engine cylinder. This likely had been an ongoing issue but finally created a warning light around 69,000. This design defect created the potential for immediate engine overheating while traveling at highway speeds. A dealer has yet to look at my vehicle but an independent service center diagnosed a blown gasket due to the intrusion. And others with the same engine 2.0L have suffered similar issues (as evidenced by recent June 2025 class action suit).

Potential Consequences:

I am the owner of a 2017 Ford Edge with only 63k miles on it (VIN: [XXX] ), which I purchased from Depaula Ford in July of 2020. This vehicle has experienced significant engine problems consistent with the symptoms described in TSB 19 2346. My 2017 Ford Edge Sport has the exploding Panoramic moonroof. The first incident - the car was parked and the front movable glass panel was cracked (see picture 1). No objects hit the glass. The second incident occurred while was wife was driving on the interstate at 75mph. It sounded like a gun shot - glass exploded into the passenger compartment - luckily the sunvisor was CLOSED or my wife and her parents in the backseat would have been sprayed with broken glass (see pictures 2 and 3). No objects hit the glass - there were no other vehicles around her at the time of the incident. We have now replaced the movable glass panel twice at a total cost of $2500 -- via insurance with our deducible of $1000. And NOW - the rear non-movable glass panel is cracked! It just won't end! The 1st incident was about Oct. 25, 2024- the 2nd incident was around May 9, 2025.
