Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Potential Risk:
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Potential Risk:
A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim letter notifying owners of the safety risk was mailed September 21, 2020. A second letter will be sent once parts are available, which is expected to begin April 15, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles. These vehicles may have door striker bolts that are shorter than intended. Vehicles with shorter door striker bolts fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components" potentially resulting in the doors opening in the event of a crash.

Potential Risk:
If the doors open in the event of a crash, there is an increased risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door striker bolts, free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18C06.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, 2019 Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT vehicles. The power supply cables at the starter and the alternator may not have been properly secured, possibly resulting in an electrical arc.

Potential Risk:
An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator and starter motor power supply cables to verify that they are properly secured, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began September 26, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S25.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Potential Risk:
If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began on July 5, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16 (S2). Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 17V-427.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Potential Consequences:

The contact's wife owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while his wife was driving 65 MPH, the message "Engine Hot" was displayed and the vehicle was overheating. The contact's wife pulled to the side of the road and allowed the engine to cool down. The contact stated that his wife turned on the hazard lights and drove to the nearby residence at slow speeds. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion in the engine. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 70,642.

Automaker knew about the Ford EcoBoost engine defect since 2010 based on pre-production testing and complaints made by consumers to the NHSTA but didn’t address the cause of the problem. Now I have to pay $10,000 parts and labor!!! Called Ford Customer Service. No assistance unless a recall is sent.

Check engine light will appear. Vehicle is blowing number two cylinder along with spark plug every two weeks. It is going through large amounts of antifreeze. Drives as if it is bogged down and shifts very hard and loud. While driving is shakes from front end. I have brought vehicle to a master mechanic and has started that the head gasket will eventually break or could catch fire. This is a on going issue at this time.

I can't even buy the original engine as it has been pulled from the market. But my car was sold new to me in August, 2018 with this flawed engine. I am including pictures the mechanic has taken of the coolant in the engine. The mechanic would not allow me to pick up my car and drive it after discovering this issue as he said it was a safety issue and could lead to my or other driver's injury or fatality. That's pretty serious. the engine replacement is going to cost me $8700 plus the cost of the previous repairs and a rental car for a week while the car is repaired.
