Ford Motor Company
NHTSA Campaign: 25V442000 SAFETY RECALL
200.1K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 27, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.
Action Required: Contact your local FORD dealer to schedule your FREE recall repair.

Recall Date: Jan 15, 2021
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Edge, 2020 Lincoln Nautilus and Ford Escape and 2021 Lincoln Corsair and Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. An inadequate amount of lubricant in the rear drive unit may cause seizure of the rear drive axle.

Potential Risk:
If the rear drive unit seizes, there may be a loss of drive and/or a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will check the rear drive unit lubricant level. Axles found to have lubricant at the minimum level will be filled to the full level. Axles found to be below the minimum lubricant fill level will be replaced, free of charge. This recall began March 12, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. NHTSA Campaign: 20V575000 SAFETY RECALL
620.2K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Sep 23, 2020
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Explorer, Mustang, Transit, Expedition, Escape, Ranger and Edge, and Lincoln Nautilus and Corsair vehicles. Due to a poor electrical connection, the rearview camera may intermittently display a blank or distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
Reduced rearward visibility can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2020. Remedy became available on February 1, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20C19.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Edge, Transit Connect and Lincoln MKX and 2020 Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing or loose bolts.

Potential Risk:

FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the start/stop accumulator, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S49.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

At 58,000 miles we started having transmission slipping issues with no check engine lights or anything. We did some research and brought it in to a dealer for the recommended software update. That didn’t fully fix the issue and they recommended a new torque converter. At just under 60,000 it should not be having these issues and it’s a major expense for a newer car. Transmission failing is a safety issue since the car could stale without warning putting the driver or others safety at risk.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

For last 3+ years Rear reverse camera remains blank and screen becomes unresponsive Unable to use steering wheel buttons to change radio station or volume. Can get working again by performing a system reset (press seek and volume knob) Took to Ford dealer for the camera recall 20C19 when recall first came out. As parts were not available, dealer stated they could not apply fix Due to work schedule, finally able to reschedule in Dec 2024. After fix had been applied, reverse camera continues to stay blank and inoperable. Took back to Ford dealership. Dealership stated this was not under the recall as it is caused by a bad apim module. Warranty had expired by this time so that did not cover this either. The end failure symptom is the same as the recall but not caused by the same component therefore is not covered. Cost to replace is >$1000 so not affordable to repair. Had a few close accidents caused by the lack of reverse camera function. Vehicle is available for inspection. If the end failure is the same as that caused lack of safety requiring a recall, why would the apim module also not be replaced under recall?

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

My Ford Edge only has a little over 37,000 miles on it, it’s an 2020 model. Electronic throttle body went out. The car lost all power, when trying to mash the gas peddle , the power was decreasing, the engine was missing and running extremely ruff.I barely was able to get off to the side of the interstate safely. The brakes went out , my car issued 7 different power failures involving powertrain, restraints, anti-lock system , hill start, pre-collision , 2 repeated the same warning. These warnings only came on after the car lost power, not before. I had to have it towed. Since I have AAA, I had them tow it to their repair shop since it was only a few miles from where I was stranded. They replaced the throttle assembly. I tried to find out if there was a recall , no recall, but there has been class action suits against Ford for this same reason.

Defect Description:

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Potential Consequences:

The rear view camera glitches and the display is either blacked out or scattered. The motion sensor does not always work when this happens. I was not aware of an on coming car while backing up causing a safety risk. The screen will start glitching and become distorted while I am already backing up, making it hard to know where the objects are. There are not any warning lights to indicate a problem. I brought the car to the service center at the dealership from where I purchased it, They said I would have to pay for a new camera. I did not do that because there is a recall in the 2021 model and other Ford vehicles for the same issue .

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Car jerks when switching gears most of the time. Mostly noticed between 2nd & 3rd AND 3rd & 4th gears. If I am very gentle with the gas pedal, the jerk is very minor and sometimes unnoticeable. At constant speeds, the RPM spikes on its own without me hitting the gas pedal. To confirm this, I drove the car on the highway multiple times with cruise control set to 60 MPH. RPM will be slightly over 2x1000 for most of the time but periodically spikes 50-100 RPM over this constant mark.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

This is an update to incident [XXX] After failure of the torque converter I replaced the transmission in November 2023. Over time the symptoms of jerking and power issues came back. Had a transmission relearn completed. Issues came back again over time. Took vehicle to ford dealer (DORSCH) and diagnosed as TPS sensor failure. I did notice over winter that the issue was less in below 40 degrees weather. I assumed at that point it was electronic rather than a mechanical failure. Sensor is being replaced at this moment. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
