The front driver seat track assembly's rear riser may have been improperly welded to the seat track rail, and as a result, the driver may not be adequately restrained in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 207, "Seating Systems" and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

ON NOVEMBER 25, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 PM, MY SON OPENED THE DOOR WITH A DEFECTIVE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN MARYLAND. AFTER WE QUICKLY PULLED OVER, WE WERE UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AS THERE WAS A METAL PIECE BLOCKING THE CLOSING MECHANISM. WE CALLED EMERGENCY ROAD SIDE SERVICES AT 5:20 PM AND WAS TOLD A TOW TRUCK WOULD BRING US ANOTHER CAR WITH AN ETA OF 8:27 PM. FOUR CALLS WERE MADE UP TO 10:41PM TO FIND OUT WHEN THE TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE. WE WERE CONSISTENTLY TOLD THERE WAS A DELAY DUE TO HOLIDAY TRAFFIC. THE NEXT MORNING AT 8:03 AM, ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE TO DETERMINE THE STATUS OF THE ISSUE. I COMPLETED THE REMAINING 60-70 MILES OF MY DRIVE AND HAVE MADE A FEW 50-100 MILE TRIPS SINCE WITHOUT IT OCCURRING AGAIN SO I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE THING UNTIL I GOT AN EMAIL FROM THE FLEET COMPANY STATING THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, I AM SCHEDULED TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR NOW. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 12,000 MILES.

WHILE TRAVELING ON BUSINESS MY 2016 FORD FUSION FLEET VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR AND BEGAN VIBRATING. THE GAS PEDAL COULD BE PRESSED BUT HAD NO AFFECT AS IF IT HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED AND AN ORANGE WRENCH APPEARED STATING SEE MANUAL. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES AN HOUR AT THE TIME (CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AND HAD BEEN AT THIS SPEED FOR SOME TIME, NO RECENT ACCELERATION HAD OCCURRED). WHEN IT HAPPENED I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH NO SHOULDER. I WENT TO TAP THE BRAKE TO SEE IF IT WAS STILL FUNCTIONING AND WHEN I REACHED FOR IT WITH MY FOOT IT WAS ALREADY PARTIALLY DEPRESSED AND WHEN I TAPPED IT THE CAR FELT LIKE THE BRAKES HAD LOCKED OR WERE FOR SOME REASON EXTREMELY SENSITIVE CAUSING ME TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT SINCE PEOPLE WERE TRAVELING BEHIND ME. AFTER THAT HAPPENED I DECIDED I HAD NO OTHER OPTION AND MOVED OFF TO THE RIGHT BETWEEN THE CONES AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP THE VIBRATING INTENSIFIED BRIEFLY BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF. I WAITED 5 OR 10 SECONDS AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AND MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED ANOTHER PART AND ONCE AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. MY ISSUE IS NOT WITH THE DEALERSHIP, IT IS WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM TWICE REGARDING MY VEHICLE AND I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALLBACK. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW. THE ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD, BUT THERE HAS YET TO BE A RECALL. DO I HAVE TO DIE IN MY VEHICLE ON 35E IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? I'M AFRAID TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT PUTS MY FAMILY'S AND MY LIFE IN IMMINENT AND SUBSTANTIAL DANGER. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS I ISSUE. I CAN'T CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.
Corrective Action:
I HAVE A 2016 FORD FUSION THAT I PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. IT HAS LOST POWER FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST THREE DAYS THAT I HAVE DRIVEN IT, TWICE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC HEADING TO AND FROM DALLAS FOR WORK. A WRENCH WILL SHOW UP ON THE DASHBOARD, A MESSAGE SAYING "SEE MANUAL" WILL POP UP, AND THE VEHICLE FAILS TO ACCELERATE. I CANNOT PULL THE VEHICLE OVER OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WAS THIS PAST MONDAY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A NEW THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THE CAR WOULD BE FINE AFTERWARDS. ON MY WAY HOME YESTERDAY, DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON A BUSY FOUR LANE HIGHWAY WORK NO SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON BECAUSE OF CONSTRICTION, MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN.
