Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture and leak brake fluid.

Potential Risk:
A brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S12.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion vehicles. The steering wheel retaining bolt may loosen allowing the steering wheel to detach while driving.

Potential Risk:
A steering wheel detachment can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering wheel bolt with a longer bolt, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S08.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Edge and Fusion vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Potential Risk:
If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford or Lincoln will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began August 25, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured September 27, 2016, to September 28, 2016. The left rear seat backs pivot pins may have been improperly welded.

Potential Risk:
During a crash, the improper welds may fail, allowing any stowed luggage to move into the passenger compartment, increasing the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left hand, second row seat back frame, free of charge. The recall began January 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S43.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Potential Consequences:

WINDSHIELD WIPERS CHATTER ACROSS WINDOW WHEN IT'S RAINING. THE CHATTER GETS SO BAD THAT THEY SKIP ACROSS THE WINDOW NOT CLEARING THE WINDOW COMPLETELY HITTING THE POST ON THE LEFT SIDE. THEN WHEN THEY ARE IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION THEY WILL STOP AND MAKE A LOUD SCRAPPING SOUND. THEY HAVE CHATTERED SO BAD THAT THEY HAVE ACTUALLY STOPED FUNCTIONING IN THE RAIN LEAVING NO VISIBILITY FOR DRIVING. THIS WAS ON THE FREEWAY CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES. 1 TIME AFTER WE PURCHASED THE CAR, APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES, AND WE WERE TOLD THE WIPERS WERE JUST DIRTY. BETWEEN THIS VISIT AND THE NEXT 3 WE HAD TO PURCHASE REPLACEMENT WIPERS AT 6,000 MILES AS THE WIPERS WERE NOT PROPERLY CLEARING THE WINDOW, BUT THEY WERE ALSO CAUSING CHATTER. . HOWEVER, THE OLD WIPERS APPEARED BRAND NEW. DURING THE NEXT 3 VISITS TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN EUREKA CA WE WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG, BUT THEY APPLIED RAINEX OR A SIMILAR PRODUCT. THE WINDOW WAS "CLEANED". LASTLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPLACED. THEY ALSO APPEARED BRAND NEW. UPON TALKING TO THE SERVICE REP WE WERE TOLD THAT THE WIPERS ON OUR FORD FUSION WERE NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED FOR OUR FORD FUSION AND THEY WERE FACTORY WIPERS. HE ALSO STATED THAT SEVERAL OF THE SERVICE TECHS HAVE FUSIONS AND THEY HAVE HAD SIMILAR SITUATIONS. WE HAVE HAD THIS SET OF WIPERS ON FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND ALREADY RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (MID VALLEY FORD DEALER LOCATED AT 201 NE POLK SATION RD, DALLAS, OR) AND THE HEADLINER WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE AIR BAG WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOUNTING BRACKETS WERE WELDED INTO THE WRONG POSITION IN THE VEHICLE. THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE DETACHED AND RE-WELDED INTO THE CORRECT POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000.
