200.1K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 27, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Potential Risk:
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

The transmission needs replaced at 88,900 miles on a 2019 Ford Transit Connect. I have reached out to Ford and they will NOT do anything except to tell me I should have it repaired/replaced at a Ford authorized dealer so that the parts are under warranty. I use this compact cargo van for my business and am being for to put unnecessary wear and tear and miles on my personal vehicle for work. The transmission started to fail and the vehicle went into "limp" mode. The vehicle started to shift gears erratically, had a loss of power, slipping gears, and hard upshift and down shift. This happened all within a matter of 5 miles. Thankfully, I was able to get the vehicle back home and didn't loose control or have a catastrophic loss. The Ford dealer also found a Diagnostic Trouble Code for the Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor and when the vehicle gear selector was placed in "drive" the vehicle would move in reverse and vise versa. Ford's answer to this problem is "I am always willing to consider individual requests for assistance beyond the warranty period. I hope you understand; however, that I must place limits on the post-warranty adjustment policy. Regrettably, I have to advise you that your vehicle is beyond those limits. As such, I am unable to assist with repair costs; however, I encourage you to have the repair performed at your Ford dealership as parts come with a warranty." The factory powertrain warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles. This vehicle is a 2019 with 88,900 miles. I believe that the reasonable expectation of the lifespan of a transmission is 150,000 mile at a minimum for any vehicle. There are several recalls on the transmission as well as a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 22-2281) published showing how to fix the problem when it happens. Ford has not publicly admitted that there is a problem, but in my mind, if a problem has warranted the you publish a TSB on how to fix the problem then you are admitting that there is a problem.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Brakes started dragging. I noticed that sometimes they would stick a bit when i was trying to move after stopping somewhere. Once I got on the highway, just after I hit 65 MPH, the brakes came on. The car was slowed down to about 30MPH. I had to pull over on a very small shoulder on a busy highway. There were no lights or warning of any kind. I shut the vehicle off and restarted it. I was able to make it to the next exit. Albeit at a reduced speed. The brakes were still dragging. I was not able to make it to a dealer but did make it to a nearby Firestone shop. It was determined that the vehicle needed the entire brake system replaced, as the brakes were badly locked up. the repairs were $2300. However during my test drive 2 of the brakes were once again dragging and the brakes came on again at 65 MPH. Vehicle was taken to the local Ford dealership where it was determined that the ABS hydraulic pump was frozen and needed replacement. Repairs were another $2000. Vehicle has just over 25,000 miles and is 2 months past the warranty so there was no help on the repairs. If I had been a few miles further down the highway when the brakes came on it likely would have resulted in a bad accident.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

We have had to purchase and replace the transmission in our 2019 Transit Connect. The shifter began experiencing issues with moving into the intended gear and eventually caused the transmission needing replacement. I am aware of NHTSA safety recall 22V413, however, the recall makes no reference of the transmission itself needing to be replaced. We are seeking compensation for replacement of a new transmission for a vehicle that is 38 months old as well as bring this issue to NHTSA to possibly further the current safety recall.

AIR BAGS

Potential Consequences:

On May 17 2022, I was involved in a multi vehicle accident in which my vehicle was hit on the side and ended up with a right frontal impact into a concrete barrier. Despite the severity of the impact, None of the airbags deployed. The onboard collision sensor was triggered and dialed 911. I was injured, but not to a catastrophic Degree. I have cuts and bruises as would be expected. My concern is that an airbag should have deployed and would have been beneficial in this instance, since My shoulder did impact the steering wheel. There is a recall for this particular vehicle, but my VIN Is not listed and should be.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

This entire vehicle is a problem, including my backup camera needing to be replaced 2x since Oct. My work van does not have a rearview mirror or window so its crucial I'm a sole proprietor business owner and my only business vehicle (2019 Ford transit connect) has been in the shop a total of over 10 weeks in the last 10 months. I have had numerous problems with my vehicle including my back up camera not working (which is very important since I don't have a rear view mirror or back windows), Ford pass not working, AC blowing heat, transmission problems, check engine light on, vehicle stalling, and emissions problem. So far in 2022, it has spent over 3 weeks in the shop and is currently in the shop. I have had 3 different computer modules, EGR valve, torque converter, and backup camera replaced and I was just told today it needs another back-up camera and the heater control module replaced. I bought my vehicle brand new from Village Ford (now Gary Yeoman) in 2019 and it currently has 38,000 miles on it. The regular warranty ended at 36k miles, but Ford corporate purchased me an extended warranty covering my vehicle to 75k miles due to the vehicle spending an entire month in the shop Nov 2021. I have called and emailed Ford Corporate multiple times including talking to very unhelpful supervisor. I clearly have a bad vehicle and it is a huge inconvenience and is adversely affecting my business. I have asked for Ford to buy my vehicle from me and told there is nothing they can do. As a consumer I am made to feel like all these problems are somehow my fault, when I have done nothing wrong except unknowingly bought a lemon vehicle and because I haven't had the exact same problem 3x, it doesn't qualify for the FL lemon law. There should be some provision for a vehicle with 8+ problems and that has spent 11 weeks in the shop in 10 months. This is a wrapped WORK vehicle that advertises my business. Guess how many business cards I passed out during those 11 weeks? ZERO.

I TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE VAN WOULD DRIVE FORWARD, I TOOK IT TO 3 DEALERS TRANSMISSION SHOULD LAST MUCH MORE THAN 84,000 MILES, KNOWN ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS ALTHOUGH NO RECALLS ON RECORD FOR THIS ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION COMBINATION. I DRIVE MY VAN VERY EASY, MY MILES ARE MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES VERY LITTLE IN TOWN DRIVING. FORD SHOULD HONOR KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS FAIR OF FORD, I REQUESTED A CASE TO BE STARTED BY FORD AND I WANT TO RECORD THE PROBLEM IF FOR NOTHING ELSE FUTURE RECALL NOTICES FOR THIS OBVIOUS MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO NOW, IT NOW IS UNDRIVEABLE AND SITTING AT A DEALERSHIP AND I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION, THIS WAS A "WORK" TRUCK AND NOW I CAN NOT WORK EITHER.
