ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
While driving in the left lane of the interstate at 70 mph, the engine abruptly shut off, shifting the car into neutral. The dashboard read start engine, which did not compute immediately. I quickly navigated to the right lane to assess the situation and eventually to the shoulder of the highway where I parked the vehicle. I was unable to to restart and had the vehicle towed to the dealership. It took ~6 hours for the Onstar tow service to arrive.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On 3/21/2025 while in the middle lane of highway 290 my 2022 Yukon Denali xl started immediately decreasing in speed. The car went into neutral and I had no control of the acceleration or braking. Then the engine shut off. I wasn’t not able to get my car off of the freeway and had to wait over 1.5 hours to have it towed by GM. This is the second engine that has seized in the car. The car is still under warranty and had an extended warranty through gm as the engine seized and had to be replaced once already. Extremely dangerous

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
The car all of a sudden started making wired noises during idling. While driving it would click and start shaking. Took it to a GM service center. They diagnosed as a flywheel. After investigating, it was not the fly wheel. They tore the motor apart as they though liftor 7 and 8 were bad. During that process, they found "large parts" of metal in the oil and found a rod barring failed. They are now replacing the entire engine.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I was driving my 3 children to a basketball tournament. I was going about 70 mph on the highway when my dash started flashing "Engine Oil Hot", a few seconds later my vehicle completely "shut off/died". I merged over to the shoulder of the highway and tried to restart my vehicle, yet it just "clicked" and seemed to be "dead". The safety of myself and my 3 children were at risk, being stranded on the side of the highway far from home waiting for the tow truck. To say I was scared is an understatement, there was no warning signs so I could prepare for this. My vehicle was towed into a dealership, later that week I received a call saying I will need a new engine. I was told this could take up to 1-4 months because so many other vehicles with the exact same failure are waiting for their engine replacements as well. I am a working mother of 3, and now I am out of a vehicle for 1-4 months. I bought this vehicle new to be a reliable and large enough for my family, little did I know I would be left with no means of transportation because of a faulty engine!

during my last oil change had the update for the software recall. Onstar module was killed with this update, and the part 85560244 is discontinued. Now I don't have onstar, wifi, along with other safety features like speed, maps, etc. This is a MAJOR concern.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On [XXX] my vehicle displayed an engine light on the dash. The light went on and off randomly throughout the day. The vehicle was hooked up to a computer that said there were no issues and everything was fine. On [XXX] I drove the vehicle over 240 miles to Pittsburgh and back with no lights. At one point the vehicle did make a loud noise for the drive but I took it out of cruise control and everything was fine. On [XXX] while driving to Poconos, PA with my family (husband, self, children ages [XXX] , [XXX] , [XXX] and [XXX] ) on [XXX} at approximately mile marker [XXX] the vehicle's engine quit working. The engine light came on and we were able to coast off of a bridge and onto the shoulder of the highway. We were unable to exit the vehicle due to high rates of speed of oncoming traffic and the shoulder not having much room. We contacted OnStar who sent a state trooper to assist with traffic control until a tow could get to our area. The vehicle was towed to Blaise Alexander in Bloomsburg, PA. My and my three youngest children had to ride with the state police officer and my husband and older son rode with the tow truck due to not having anything to fit a family of 6. The police officer told me that he had a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali have the same issue in the same spot on the highway a week ago. The vehicle has just over 25,054 miles on it. On 3/10/25 Blaise Alexander called to state that there was metal in the engine and the engine would need to be replaced. The service manager stated that they have had a few GMC Yukon Denali vehicles with this issue and that the engines may be on back-order. I have also had issues with radio presets resetting, audio not working with turn signals, navigation, radio and phone and alignment since I owned it for the last [XXX] days. From my research, this is a known problem with GM engines for the engines in the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
