Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
I have had multiple instances (since purchasing the vehicle new at the end of the of the 2018 model year (Sept 2018) of my 2018 Honda Accord LX suddenly braking when there was no reason to brake. I talked with my service advisor at Dave Mungenast Honda in St. Louis, MO within the first month of taking delivery of this new vehicle about this issue and was told that nothing is saved (in vehicle memory/hard drive or other) so they would not be able to diagnose unless it had just happened prior to driving in for service. I said it was dangerous but no one was concerned (I told my kids about this and don't let them drive this car, I bought a 2022 Honda Civic also with Honda Sensing safety system (with auto braking etc.) and no issues with this car, after 8000 miles, zero issues like the 2018 Accord, none.) They said its likely just their Honda Sensing auto/safety braking system activated and its not perfect. They said if I'm still concerned and when or if it happens again feel free to drive directly to their service department (not practical, since they are not open 24/7 and often not possible to disrupt daily routine. It has happened at least 10+ times since the initial scary episode and I only have about 23,000 miles on this car (with little driving last two years during pandemic). I have had it happen in exactly the same spot 2-3 times. Whenever this happens, it's always the same, the dashboard lights up saying "BRAKE" while the vehicle simultaneously/suddenly applys the brakes, fairly hard. The brakes have never locked up completely but the auto braking is a sudden unexpected moderate to hard brake, only lasting a second or two, and then the braking automatically releases. I'm officially reporting this now, even though my events are not as recent, because I just learned other are experiencing the same issue and I believe this should be addressed by Honda and corrected before someone is injured or killed in a rear end collision.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
Two times, pulling into my driveway at a slow speed, the car automatically stopped suddenly. There were no shadows to provoke this. I have not seen a dealer about this because I did not want to incur any fees. No warning, no dash lights appeared and no other messages were displayed. The first occurrence happened about 3 months ago, the second was about 4 weeks ago.

Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
In the past 2 weeks, my Honda Accord has suddenly started braking without reason. Once this was on the interstate, the other time it was on an exit ramp from a state highway. I did notice that on the exit ramp, the front of the vehicle was looking into the sun. I have no idea if that can help pinpoint this issue, but I wonder if the cameras/sensors on the front of the vehicle got 'confused' by the high amount of light. This did not cause an accident, but it did cause me great anxiety.

I was driving my car and was at the time passing through an intersection and I had no car in front or back of me and out of nowhere my car showed an alert to "BRAKE" and the car slammed on the brakes for me and brought the car to an almost complete stop. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
Automatic braking was activated on several occasions when there was no car or object in sight. This happened twice on the interstate at 70 mph speeds and once along a 40 mph road. Thankfully nobody was close behind or i would have been rear ended and hurt. The dealer says they have no complaints of this issue. Now every time i start the car i turn of the forward collision braking, because i don't trust this software Honda uses. Honda needs to do a software update to deactivate this until they can figure out what the problem is. There were no warning lights prior to or now on this car.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
1. Car periodically brakes on its own, sometimes when no other cars are around vehicle. It is available for inspection upon request. In the 3 years I've owned the car, it has done it numerous times, once on the expressway. 2. The last incident of this happening, I was almost involved in a rear end collision, thankfully the car behind me was at a safe distance. 3. After reading articles about this problem I phoned my dealership 3/1/2022 and spoke with someone in the service department. To my surprise, he denied knowing anything about this problem! 4. No inspection has been done for this problem. 5. My BRAKE warning message did appear during some of these incidents.
