ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

I left my purse in the car and went in to pick up puppy. The car doors had self locked with my purse and keys inside the car. I have reported to the dealership and Honda of America. No response from HOA. I am concerned that someone might have a child or dog in the car and thinking that they are just going in house for a minute would come back to the car and find the doors locked. My phone was also in the car. It took 45 minutes for me to find someone, use their phone to make a call, and have someone bring the spare key. That is a long time for a child or animal to be locked in a car.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

I was driving home in the rain on the interstate when my car suddenly braked on its own. Luckily, no one was immediately around me at the time because the sudden braking resulted in my car sliding into the lane to the right of me, towards the cars in the next lane over. It spun to where I was facing the oncoming traffic and sliding toward the dividing wall with the passenger side to the wall. I missed the wall, but the car did a complete circle and came to a stop straddling the fast lane and facing the wall. I was able to pull the car off to the shoulder next to the wall. I did not hit anybody or anything. When I calmed down, I took the car straight to dealer to have the brakes checked. They kept the car overnight. That night I went online and found others had reported similar incidents of the Automatic Emergency Braking System engaging unnecessarily on its own and realized that was what had happened to me. I also had a previous incident where system braked harder than necessary. The next day the service techs had found nothing wrong with the brakes. When I told the service manager about the AEBS problems I had read about, I told him I wanted it disconnected. He told me they could not do that and until Honda came up with a fix for the problem, they couldn't do anything. I looked online again and discovered Honda had replied to questions about the AEBS engaging when it should not and said they had addressed the problem in the owner's manual. I found an online manual and found that I can turn the Collision Mitigation Braking System off. It resets automatically so I have to turn it off each time I start the car. I have not driven the car any distance yet since I have not returned to work yet but plan on turning it off and see if it really does turn it off and corrects the problem. Currently, I have no confidence in the car and am afraid of it happening again.

Potential Consequences:

My 2018 Honda Accord the paint is pealing and rusting on the roof on both sides of the roof. I took the car to a body shop recommended by the dealer ship. After car was inspected Honda America told the dealership that they would split the cost of the repair with me. Honda America provided me with a case number I find this unacceptable.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Rear breaks went from being in great conditions to totally work out to the point it was metal on metal. Went to the Honda dealership and they said the roters were rusted and corroded which caused the break pads to disappear. They stated it’s a known issue with the 2018 Honda Accord but there is no recall at the time.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

- AC compressor failed within 1 year. Replaced. New one failed in 2 years now out of warranty. - Very limited heat on cold days in winter. Must be driving constantly in higher rev (no stop and go) can't use eco mode. Dealer says it's "normal" but my Civic that's 7 years older has no issues. Seems to be the same as current recall for other Honda CRV models - HUD rattles constantly in hot weather, dealer refuses to do anything despite a service bulletin - Rear speaker deck rattles constantly with all styles of music even at low volume. Dealer has "fixed" twice but problem remains. Not of safety concern All concerns reproduceable but several dismissed by deal Yes, available for inspection upon request

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

My brakes are very sensitive. Every time you brake it brakes hard. When I brake at 50 mph the steering wheel and brakes vibrate. I never had a car with this problem and I have had Honda's my whole life and never had this problem. I don't know if its because of the new electronic braking system but it sucks. This will be my last time buying a Honda due to this horrible braking problem. Every time I notify Honda service they tell me that's how the braking system is. Well its HORRIBLE. Got me looking like I am break checking somebody and making me seem like I can't brake or drive good. Honda really needs to fix this problem.
