Defect Description:
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Recently got a message on the instrument panel that says "Emission System Problem" with DTC P219A. This is related to faulty fuel injectors. Honda released Service Bulletin 21-010 and extended the warranty to 10y/150,000mi to cover this issue. However, Honda is saying my VIN is not covered by this campaign. From browsing owners forums and talking to the dealer, it seems that many more owners are experiencing this same issue. Clearly the original service campaign did not cover enough VINs. Honda needs to expand the service campaign to cover more VINs to capture all of the faulty fuel injectors.
Corrective Action:

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
I was driving to work and all of a sudden, the Check Engine light turned on and when I looked at the dashboard, it says Emissions System Problem. As I went home, I purchased an OBD sensor and as I used it, it read P219A which is about fuel injectors replacement. I was searching for answers online and I came across an extended warranty for problems like this with 18-19 Honda Odyssey but it says for certain VIN numbers. I called Honda America and said that my VIN number is not within the list so they are not covering the warranty. Same is true with the dealerships, they said the same thing. As I looked into Odyssey Forum online, a few of us at about 90k mileage has this issue and we were all told that our VIN numbers are not in the list. I do hope you can help us on this that we can be covered by Honda regarding this inconvenience.

Additional Notes:
Without any notable prior messages or symptoms prior to the failure, on [XXX] after dropping off the kids at school and then turning on my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L (28,170 miles), the "Brake System" light was on and the following 5 dashboard warning lights/messages turned on: 1) Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, 2) Lane Keeping Assist Problem, 3) Collision Mitigation System Problem, 4) Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, 5) Auto High-Beam Problem. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems no longer works, and it becomes unknown to the driver whether the "Brake System" light is being triggered only by the Collision Mitigation System Problem, or an additional problemch as the anti-lock brake system not working. While no accidents occurred, the warning lights add unneeded driver anxiety, which can contribute to a potential safety impact. The problem has been confirmed by the San Leandro, CA Honda Dealer to be error code U3000-49. Dealer diagnosed problem as "Multipurpose camera / millimeter wave radar internal circuit failure" and recommended to replace the multipurpose camera and perform aiming. Dealer advised that safety features will not work. The diagnostic fee was $179.10, and the repair fee was quoted as $2456.55 The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I am filing this complaint to report a recurring and costly defect involving the starter system in my Honda Odyssey. The vehicle has been experiencing starter failures every few months, requiring repeated repairs and part replacements. Each time the starter fails, I am left stranded without warning, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when the failure occurs in public areas, on road shoulders, or during emergencies. The defect has caused extreme inconvenience, financial strain, and raised serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. Given the frequency and cost of the problem, I believe this constitutes a systemic defect that should be investigated for a potential recall or manufacturer responsibility. I urge the NHTSA to thoroughly investigate this matter to determine whether this ongoing issue with the starter poses a broader public safety concern and qualifies for regulatory or enforcement action.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Shortly after owning we started noticing sporadic jerks between 24-29 mph that felt like a hard up shift. We immediately brought to our local Honda dealership where they performed a software update. We were told that the vehicle struggles to shift while under load. Recently our van was making a whining noise and seemed hard/delay to accelerate in drive as well as reverse. Almost felt like I was in neutral, but was not. NO warning lights were on, but something was not right so I went home. The next day it would not start and lit up every warning light. We had it towed to the dealership and was told battery was shot so they replaced. On way home it was still hard to accelerate so we brought it right back to the dealership and have been told a new transmission is needed. We have had all maintenance done at dealership prior to this. In fact, the vehicle was just in 3 weeks ago for an oil change and everything looked great. These issues have occurred without any warning lights or diagnostic alerts, making them unpredictable and dangerous. A transmission should not fail without any particular warning to the driver. It seems these transmissions have had a defect from the date of manufacturer that cause malfunctions, premature failing, costly repairs, and most important major safety concerns. Honda needs to be held accountable.
