Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
I have been to my Honda dealership four times for transmission issues and on the fourth trip to the dealer they were finally able to confirm the problem. My 2019 Ridgeline will kick/buck at about 27 miles per hour and will not shift into higher gears as I gain speed. When this occurs, my engine will operate at 4,000 RPM on the highway. There warning lamps when the transmission starts acting up. The some or all of the lamps will stay on for on or several days at a time and these include: Emission Systems Problem, Transmission Systems Problem and Blind Spot Info System Problem. My safety is at risk due to the fact the transmission does not shift and bucks and I cannot potentially accelerate in a normal manner which could lead to an accident. They have diagnosed the problem based on a computer code from the car to the service department. They say the part is on backorder and they do not know when it will be available. Could be up to six months. I have looked on the internet and have found many Ridgeline owners complaining of the same issue for the 2017-2019 model years. When I brought the car in for service the first two times I was under extended warranty and now they say I may not be covered because they could not detect it. I guess mechanics now rely on computers and do not accept the work of the owner as to the problems being experienced. The problem is the Pressure Control Valve Code # P0776

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
There was a following problem. The car began to turn on the ignition itself. It does not matter if the keys are inside the car or far away from it. This leads to a complete discharge of the battery. May trigger an alarm if the car is closed. Flashing malfunction indicators. A couple of times it was difficult to turn off the car. After pressing the start button to stop the engine, the engine continued to run. After repeating the attempts several times (4-5), the engine stopped. Also had trouble starting the car several times. The starter worked but the car would not start. Disconnecting the battery and connecting it again solved the problem and the car started. The car was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that Keyless access control unit is failing. After replacing the unit and at the moment the car is working as it should.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
My 2019 Honda Ridgeline had very noticeable torque converter judder with milage in the 40k. I do not tow other than an occasional utility trailer, loaded lightly. Additionally, the vehicle was always operated in normal conditions. There were never any warning vehicle codes or any other Honda notices on potential problem. On 7/14/2023, I took it to a Honda dealer who verified condition in writing on invoice and serviced the vehicle in accordance with Honda Service Bulletins 17-025 and 17-026 which resulted from similar complaints and class action from 2017 Honda Ridgelines. After researching online, I noticed many 2018 and 2019 ridgeline owners were complaining about the same issue of premature transmission torque converter problems in various forums. This premature defective transmission issue did not go unnoticed by Honda as they changed to a different transmission for 2020 models. I believe that Honda and this issue should be investigated so as to hold Honda responsible for appropriate corrective action to include warranty extension of the 5 year / 60000 miles. I am uploading Invoice which documents issue and payment. Document says RPM surges 1000 to 2000, which should have read 100 to 200 RPMs.

Potential Consequences:
Driving on the Interstate on 4/09/23 my 2019 Honda Ridgeline hood began to vibrate badly. I slowed and pulled over on the shoulder. The hood was barely still connected but had an open gap. I opened and slammed the hood and continued home at a slower speed, (approx. 62 MPH). I had taken the Ridgeline in on Feb. 16, 2022 at the Honda dealer as per Honda's safety recall concerning the Hood Latch Striker Recall. This complaint is that they obviously did not or were not able to fix the problem. I have another appointment at the local dealer in Alcoa, TN. But I worry they may not be able to fix it?

STRUCTURE:BODY
Potential Consequences:
Severe hood vibration, bouncing and shaking present at various highway speeds (55mph-65mph). VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V932000 (Structure, Latches, Locks/Linkages). Upon visual inspection hood latch was significantly loose. Gaps evident in seal of hood and severe vibration of hood presented and remain present following recall/repair. The vehicle was brought to the dealership upon reciving recall notice. Dealership installed striker plate and tightened loose hood latch. (03/03/2022) However, hood continued to vibrate, bounce and shake at highway speeds after initial repair; noticed only after leaving dealership. Consequently, vehicle has been returned to the dealership two additional times for same safety complaint: severe hood vibration. (Vehicle returned again 03/04/2022 and 03/21/2022). Dealership was informed of continued severe vibration and failure to address the vibration and bouncing of hood resulting from air entry through gaps between hood and grill each time vehicle returned to dealership. Despite consumer informing dealership vehicle's hood was continuing to show severe vibration, shaking and bouncing at highway speeds, the dealership indicated they did all they could; all is safe and the hood does not get secured on sides, just at front latch. Dealership informed consumer nothing more could be done. Consumer found dealership's explanation; subsequent failure to address and correct vibrating hood safety issue unacceptable and is reporting this vehicle's hood vibration as a continued safety problem as it remains a clear and present danger at this current time. Continued, natural wear, tear, and strain caused by vibration and bouncing of the hood, resulting from air entry through gaps between hood and grill, remains clear and present danger of hood unexpectedly opening while driving increasing the risk of a crash resulting in potential injury or death.
