Nissan North America, Inc.
NHTSA Campaign: 19V807000 SAFETY RECALL
391.5K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Nov 8, 2019
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Nissan Murano, 2016-2018 Nissan Maxima, and 2017-2019 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and unrepaired, or inspected and determined to not need a repair, under recall number 18V-601. In addition, this recall expands the previous population. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.

Potential Risk:
A brake fluid leak on the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS actuator, free of charge. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available, currently expected to be during summer 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: If the ABS warning light remains illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.
Additional Details:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

NHTSA Campaign: 19V654000 SAFETY RECALL
1.2M Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Sep 12, 2019
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.
Additional Details:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

FEB (sensors) display on our Infiniti QX 60 dashboard - this occurred within several months when we received the car. The car was inspected by their Infiniti Repair dealer and was told the problem was solved. It was not and the same issue appeared after several miles of driving. Reported to Consumer Affairs at Infiniti and was informed its an Infiniti Dealer issue. Further electronic defects occurred as I was not able to change gear from Park to Drive. Infiniti towed the car to their Dealer and purportedly they corrected. The same issue continued and placed several more calls to Infiniti Consumer affairs. Was told "we are sorry but we cant help you". Eventually brought this issue up to the highest level at Infiniti to [XXX] - head of Nissan North America. No action yet again - and was called by an assistant and thanked me for bringing it to his attention. informed Infiniti via email to [XXX] that it can be catastrophic at Front sensors are defective and do not function. I have video's and written correspondence to Infiniti. I am available for a Zoom call or can be contacted at [XXX]. UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

The car engine suddenly shut off itself while I am driving in the middle of the road. The engine and the collision sensor lights were on, I had to fully stop the car and put it into "P" then restart the engine in order to go again. It was a heavy snowing day, I drove pretty slow about 20- 30 mph. It happened twice that day and one of the times I was stopped at the middle of an intersection. There were no warning lamps or any other symptoms at all, and my car still has fuel which the dealer can prove. It's extremely dangerous because my car just suddenly has to stop especially it was a snowing day. I got the car tolled to an Infiniti dealer the next day, they ran a check and did a test drive (was not snowing the next day) but they couldn't duplicate the problem, so they cannot fix anything. Contacted Infiniti Cooperate but they said if the dealer couldn't duplicate the problem, they cannot do anything about it.

Defect Description:

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

The car engine suddenly shut off itself while I am driving in the middle of the road. The engine and the collision sensor lights were on, I had to fully stop the car and put it into "P" then restart the engine in order to go again. It was a heavy snowing day, I drove pretty slow about 20- 30 mph. It happened twice that day and one of the times I was stopped at the middle of an intersection. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

While driving home from work on the expressway, the FEB indicator came on even though there was no one in front of me for at least 1/4 mile. Then the BCI indicator came on when there was no vehicle behind me. The braking system started to engage for no apparent reason. I previously owned a 2017 QX60 and experienced the same issues. Infiniti could not correct the issue and I was granted a new vehicle under the lemon law. Unfortunately, my current QX60 has too many miles to consider for the lemon law again.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

The emergency braking system occassionally engages when I am driving. On about four occassions I was driving and the alarm began beeping. The car suddenly began braking. Nothing was directly in front of my vehicle that should have triggered the system. The most recent incident was yesterday, 10/5/21. This afternoon on my way home from work, the following warning appeared after a brief beeping sound, " FEB. Warning. See Owners Manual." A symbol was also lit on the dashboard. This warning remained on until I turned my vehicle off once I arrived home. I have not restarted the vehicle to see if the warning reappears. There have also been at least two instances of the rear sensor going off.
