Nissan North America, Inc.
NHTSA Campaign: 25V437000 SAFETY RECALL
443.9K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 26, 2025
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Rogue, 2019-2020 Altima, 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50, and 2022 Infiniti QX55 vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L or 4-cylinder 2.0L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. The engine bearings may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine failure.

Potential Risk:
Engine failure increases the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will inspect the engine oil pan for metal debris, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles with the 3-cylinder 1.5L VC-Turbo engine, if no debris is detected during the inspection, dealers will replace the oil pan gasket, engine oil, and reprogram the engine control module. For vehicles with the 4-cylinder 2.0L VC-Turbo engine, if no debris is detected, dealers will replace the engine oil. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed August 22, 2025. A second letter will be sent once the remedy is available, around Q4 2025. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or Infiniti's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25A8/A9 and R25B1/B2.

Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Altima and 2020-2021 Sentra vehicles. Damage to the camera harness can cause distortion or loss of the rearview camera display image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera that does not properly display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will inspect the rearview camera and harness for damage and replace them as necessary. If no damage is found, the dealer will apply protective tape and reroute the rearview camera harness. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 19, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Recall Date: Mar 11, 2021
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Altima and 2018-2021 Titan vehicles equipped with Continental tires. On the affected vehicles, it is possible that one or more tires were cured for too long during tire production.

Potential Risk:
Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 11, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC798.

Recall Date: Apr 18, 2019
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019 Altima vehicles equipped with front wheel drive (FWD) and 2.5 liter engines. The fuel pump lock ring may not be fully engaged, possibly causing fuel to leak. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 301, "Fuel System Integrity."

Potential Risk:
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel tank assembly. If the lock ring is disengaged, dealers will tighten the ring to specification. If the lock ring is detached, dealers will replace the fuel pump. Both remedies will be completed free of charge. The recall began May 15, 2019. Recall Date: Mar 25, 2019
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019 Nissan Altima vehicles. The brake switch bracket may be in the incorrect location, which may cause the brake switch to remain on.

Potential Risk:
If the brake switch remains in the ON position, the brake lights will remain illuminated when the brakes are not being pressed, which may confuse other drivers. Additionally, the transmission shift lever may be moved out of the Park position without the brake pedal being pressed, allowing the vehicle to roll unexpectedly. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and install a new brake pedal as needed, free of charge. The recall began May 15, 2019. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019 Altima vehicles. The retainer clip connecting the low pressure fuel tube to the high pressure fuel pump may not have been locked into position.

Potential Risk:
If the retainer clip is unlocked, the fuel tube may shift and cause a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire. If the fuel tube fully disconnects, the engine can stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan has notified owners, and dealers will route the fuel hose into the holding clip and lock the retainer clip into place, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2019. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

The shutter in the front of the car is defective. This part not working causes the car to overheat. There are so many issues with this exact same problem on this exact car that there is literally a back order and I cannot get the part so now I can’t use my car. My mechanic place said he’s seen 4 of these cars in the past week with the same problem and can’t get the parts because of back order. If there are this many issues that it’s causing this much of a shortage and it can cause overheating this should be a recall issue.

AIR BAGS

Potential Consequences:

The occupant detection sensor unit on my car has malfunctioned for the 3rd time. My car has never been in an accident or have had the air bags deployed. The first incident was November 2021 with 24,163 miles. The dealer performed a zero-point reset. The second incident was January 2023 with 53,665 miles. The dealer again performed a zero-point reset but charged $170.03 to repair. The dealer told me this is not covered by my extended warranty. The dealer told me if it happened again they would have to replace the sensor and it will cost approximately $1000 - and it is not covered by my Nissan VSC extended warranty. Now it malfunctioned for the 3rd time in May 2023 with 57,155 miles. This appears to be a known issue for Nissan with TSB NTB19-071. I am frustrated that Nissan is asking for payment to replace a faulty sensor that affects air bag deployment in an accident. I believe this is a safety issue that Nissan should pay to replace. My ask is for Nissan to recall these vehicles or voluntarily replace the faulty sensors at no cost to the vehicle owner.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

Please note that I have my car regularly inspected for oil changes and maintenance. The adaptive cruise control stopped working August 2022. The car displays "malfunction" on the dashboard. This was inconvenient and at first intermittent, but I did not think it was putting any persons safety at risk. I went to a local Nissan dealership in NJ and they stated it would cost $600 to replace, but no safety issues. Therefore I did not get this fixed at the time. On March 14 2023, I was merging onto a highway in daylight around 4pm. It had started flurrying, but no changes in visibility. There was no car immediately in front of me. The collision warning suddenly came on and the emergency brakes were activated while attempting to accelerate onto a 65 mph highway in NJ. It was extremely startling. It certainly could have caused an accident, especially when vehicles are accelerating to merge onto a highway. I was fortunate that there was no car immediately behind me. On April 26 and 27 2023, the emergency brake was activated again due to a collision warning while in a parking garage. The only correlation I can think that ties these occurrences is when driving from a shaded to sunny location. All three times it also occurred during acceleration. This new problem is quite concerning and dangerous.

Corrective Action:

Please note that I have my car regularly inspected for oil changes and maintenance. The adaptive cruise control stopped working August 2022. The car displays "malfunction" on the dashboard. This was inconvenient and at first intermittent, but I did not think it was putting any persons safety at risk. I went to a local Nissan dealership in NJ and they stated it would cost $600 to replace, but no safety issues. Therefore I did not get this fixed at the time.
