Car is a Safety Hazard from October 2022 to current. I have had this car at the Beau Townsend Nissan Dealership Service Center, Vandalia, OH multiple times, about the safety issue of the car slowing down with floor acceleration then shutting off on 4 lane highways just barely escaping severe accidents. Each time dealership isn’t able to fix issue, had me spend $800 to fix what they thought it was, reset codes which has not fixed the safety issue. Latest issue occurred 4/27/23 traveling on 3 lane highway in middle lane 3 hours from my home at 70 MPH speed limit. Car abruptly started slowing down without cause, and almost created a bad accident. Luckily, I was able to get the car to the right narrow shoulder strip before it shut off, police came to assist with keeping me safe in my vehicle until I could have the vehicle towed 3 hours back to Beau Townsend Nissan for more diagnostics. I opened a case with Nissan Consumer Affairs prior to this last safety incident and to date nothing has been done. I have multiple documentation with the dealership about my car being a safety risks to me (senior citizen) and others on the road. The only people to date that seem to understand the safety severity this involves are the Highway police and towing services who have provided me safety every time the car shuts down abruptly while traveling. I’m reaching out to you in hope that this concern can be addressed before you learn about me and possibly others in a fatality situation. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide in this matter. Yes, I’m available for inspection of the safety concern specific to my vehicle.

Potential Consequences:
The sunroof/moonroof drain tubes stop up and leak down the interior door frame and also into the floorboard of the car regularly. I have been in contact with Nissan Regional and they tell me its a maintenance problem. I read through the owners manual multiple times and nowhere does it mention sunroof drain tubes or anything related to sunroof drains. It does not mention it in the maintenance portion of the book or anywhere else. The issue with it leaking into the car is mold. This is a design flaw by Nissan, and unless a Nissan dealership submits it to NissanUSA as a design flaw, nothing can be done. Obviously a dealership will not submit it because they can make $159 each time a customer comes in to have those lines unclogged. NEVER BUY A NISSAN WITH A SUNROOF!!!!!! Mine has leaked into my car four times since 2021. It has flooded and molded my entire interior.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
I bought the car used from a used dealership on February 28. On May 12th, I brought it to the shop for a few things but mainly due to the battery being corroded along with a battery light that comes and goes, but also for there being a slight skip in the transmission. The car would buckle when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The shop called me back on May 23rd and said the car was ready and they found nothing wrong with the transmission. They claimed they found no codes or could not recreate the issue. I brought the car back a week or two later due to the battery light still flashing randomly. While taking the car for a test drive with the mechanic, it buckled pretty hard and I told the mechanic that’s what I had been talking about and he just brushed it off. On July 23, while driving home, my car bucked REALLY hard 5 times and then stopped accelerating past 20 miles per hour. On august 11th, I tried taking it for a test drive and it drove completely fine, like nothing had ever happened. While heading back to my house, I lost all gears and the car stopped accelerating while I was going up a hill. My rpm’s went way up but my car started to roll backwards down the hill. My grandmother happened to be behind me and she ended up pushing into my bumper and pushing me up the hill due to there being no pull of section and the speed limit being 50 mph. There were no lights on my dash indicating there was a problem. If my grandmother wasn’t there, it could have been much worse. I talked to someone at a local Nissan dealership and he claimed that my transmission is going and that even though my car is doing the same thing as a lot of the recalls and cars they offered extended warranties on, that mine didn’t qualify for one.

Corrective Action:
I bought the car used from a used dealership on February 28. On May 12th, I brought it to the shop for a few things but mainly due to the battery being corroded along with a battery light that comes and goes, but also for there being a slight skip in the transmission. Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
CVT Transmission stops accelerating at some point after driving. RPMs don’t increase and vehicle struggles to maintain speed. Speed only increases or decreases due to incline or decline of the road. It’s dangerous as it mostly occurs on freeways/highways. Problem has been happening for 2+ years. Dealer cannot confirm as no check engine light code is created and problem ceases to exist only after engine is turned off. Vehicle is available to be inspected.
