Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon driving from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond and the transmission slipped. The contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal and the vehicle responded by jolting inadvertently thirty minutes later. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly and the check engine light would illuminate intermittently. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at 30 MPH and approaching another vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond, causing the vehicle to crash into the rear end of the occupied vehicle. The airs bags failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to engage, causing the contact to hit her head against the windshield and hit her chest against the steering wheel. The contact sustain head injuries, memory loss, bruises on the chest, and whiplash. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The contact was unsure whether the other driver sustained injuries. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her mother-in-law's residence which was 2 to 3 blocks away. The dealer was not notified of the failure. As we are on our way driving to work, there was weird sounds coming out of the engine, we had no check engine lights turn on an advance to give us a warning. After those weird noises , we pressed on the gas the car would not move, that’s when the engine light came on and the car turned off, there was smoke coming out of the front it smelt like something was burning, we moved out of the car fast. We tried turning the car back on but it would not turn on.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
Was driving down the interstate going 80 mph. All of a sudden the car starting stopping. It wouldn't accelerate but the engine was still revving. Was able to get it pulled to the side of the road. It calmed down, then got back on the road. That was the second time, the first time happen in town while going about 30 mph. At that time I didn't think much about it. Due to it completely stopping it could have caused us to have a crash. I took it to the dealership the next day and they told me there were no recalls for my vin, that only thing they could do was schedule an appointment to have it looked over. Only warning we got was when it happened, the dash flashed and it went to a stop. Nothing before hand.
