Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Our vehicle stalled once while idle at an ATM. Upon restart we brought it to our local mechanic for investigation, they diagnosed the issue as a Turbo Sensor problem costing about $700. They recommended bringing it to Nissan for further review rather than charge us for the repair. We picked up the vehicle the next day and brought it to our local Nissan dealership where they confirmed it was in face the turbo causing the issue. After discovering this and quoting us a repair of $7,200 they did a pressure test overnight only to discover there was coolant leaking into the engine and that a new block will now need to be installed for the vehicle to work. The new cost is $11,500 to repair. The vehicle is a 2022 Nissan Rogue that we are the only owners with regular maintenance. When we dropped off the vehicle at both locations there was no check engine light on and there were no signs of engine failure. The Sales Manager went to check the vehicle and confirmed the engine no longer works.

Defect Description:
LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
Potential Consequences:
The OK button on the steering wheel collapsed in causing the dash menus to choose random settings and turn them on or off. In the dash selection, controlled with this, is the crash detection on the vehicle, causing the menu to cycle through and turn off and on these settings also. There’s blind spot, alarms, lane departure, driver assistance, and backup sensors. There’s vehicle’s safety features are controlled in the dash menus. The cruise control button is also sticking resulting in the cars speed to change whenever. This is a known issue with Nissan but still refuse to do anything about it after the bumper to bumper warranty period is over, even though it includes safety features. They also want us to pay $170 dollars just for them to say “yes the bottons are broken.” Several forums have confirmed this is a problem that Nissan is well aware of. Someone mentioned their 2023 went through 3 steering wheels because of this issue and it was within the warranty period, so Nissan replaced the steering wheels (you can’t just replace the button modules).

buttons such as the selector wheel on the left side of the steering wheel stick and it keeps wanting to cycle through settings because of it. There is no way to pop it back out, and it remains stuck. From reading online many people have had this issue and the only thing Nissan will do is offer to supply you with a new steering wheel. One person has a 2023 and they are on their third or fourth steering wheel because of this issue and Nissan will do nothing to fix it. it is ridiculous that cars this now have this problem and people keep having to pay for out-of-pocket. We are shortly outside of our warranty and are stuck dealing with this now.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I was driving and began hearing knocking sounds from under the hood. The car began dragging, so I was afraid to go at any speed over 25 or 30. I was almost home and it was night, so I resolved to go to the mechanic by my house the next morning. When I set out to go to the repair shop, the car was knocking louder, and I did not go more than a mile before the car stalled at a stoplight. It shuddered and then cut off. I tried to restart it, but it kept coming on and going off right after. I was in the turning lane, and had on my hazard lights, but several motorists still came up close behind me and honked their horns for me to move. This happened about a dozen times before the tow truck arrived. One man came up beside me, yelling and making gestures (I kept my window up and ignored him). I called AAA and was towed about a mile to the shop. The shop owner checked the oil to see if I had run out of oil - I had not. He then said to have it towed to Nissan because it was under warranty and the “engine is done.” He said that due to the sounds he heard coming from the engine. Days later (it was Saturday, and Nissan was not open Saturday or Sunday) I had it towed to Nissan and they have yet to diagnose the problem, after several days.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
I have had significant problems with this car. Within the first month, I had to replace the battery. In September 2024 the car went from 70 mph to 40 mph with no warning and then the engine malfunction lights came on. It was supposedly fixed by Jeff Wyler Nissan Colerain. In October of 2024 the exact same thing occurred. We went from 70 mph to 40 mph and were stranded for hours yet again. Jeff Wyler Nissan Eastgate supposedly fixed the problem this time with new electrical components. Most recently, in December of 2024, the exact thing occurred AGAIN. We went from 70 to 40 and had to have the car towed for the third time in three months and the fourth time in 2 years. It is currently at Jeff Wyler Eastgate again - supposedly waiting on a temperature component - which they think is the engine problem. All of these incidences occurred on a highway and could have had devastating consequences.
