My Ram Rebel 1500 is once again in the shop for repair of broken manifold bolts. They have had my vehicle for 4 days now on this repair and multiple days on the previous broken manifold bolt repair. This is a continual problem with Ram 1500’s. I asked if they could put a better bolt in and they said no because the warranty covers certain bolts. So, I said I can expect this to happen again and only hope it is still under warranty? And the answer was basically, yes. The first time the bolts broke the mileage was around 40,000 i believe. The second time it is 51,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Good morning, I am the proud owner of a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Hybrid, which is one of 4 I have owned over the majority of decade. While I obviously have put my trust in Ram for a really long time, that trust has been being betrayed since I have owned this one. In the last 6-months alone, my Ram has been down awaiting one spare part or another. Parts that Ram recognized as a problem shortly after the 2019 Hybrid 1500 was released and made several mid-model-year engineering changes, but never issued a recall, and because those replacement parts like the New Alternator Harness, are only just now being released with most having a 6-12 week lead time. The Alternator Harness being one of the parts that my Ram has been waiting on now for more than a month. That said, if that had of been the only problem, there’s a strong probability that I wouldn’t have mentioned it! With this being the 3rd time in 2023 and another on late 2022, and not having the new (used) Ram I just bought and pay $850 a month for (not including insurance), and it with it seeming to be more of a systemic issue, with literally thousands of people dealing with similar issues on their 2019 and it’s something that needs to be addressed, as even if it wasn’t thousands, but only hundreds, or even 1-person having these issues, if Ram saw these as significant enough issues, that they felt it necessary to re-engineer them, then Ram’s customers shouldn’t be stuck paying out their hard earned money, for vehicle that should have never been released with the original parts design. In the instance with my 2019 Ram, having it be out of commission for almost have 2023 is hard yo chew! Especially when it has less than 50,000-miles, with only roughly 10,000 coming since I bought it in October 2021. When you add the fact that Ram redesigned the number of parts they did, then never did a recall, but still force the Customers to pay for those parts! My Ram has been down for almost 6-months just this year

Information such as tire pressure, digital speedometer, CURRENT MILEAGE, and other important safety information is not visible.

Corrective Action:

The instrument cluster will no longer light up allowing safety information to be seen. There was a recall (V83 or 19V556000) issued to a very small select number of vehicles. It appears that this is a known/common problem and the limited recall was issued intentionally to avoid fixing all affected vehicles. Information such as tire pressure, digital speedometer, CURRENT MILEAGE, and other important safety information is not visible.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Due to a known but unaddressed defect in the steep-angled fuel filler neck, it’s almost impossible to fill my tank with gas because the defect causes the gas pump to stop the flow of gasoline every few seconds. Also, the gas pump handle can sometimes become stuck while trying to refill the truck. This cause a very dangerous situation in trying to remove the stuck handle due to the possibility of creating a spark which could ignite the gasoline vapors from trying to forcefully dislodge the pump handle. The NHTSA, to my knowledge, has not requested the manufacturer to initiate a recall to replace the defective part. This problem has been widely discussed online in different forums. My truck has been at the dealership all week and the service department just called me saying I need to order a new fuel tank at the cost of $1925.00!

Electronics failed while driving at 70 mph all dashboard electronics failed and all warning lights lit up. Speedometer reading went to zero while driving. Brought to Acadiana Dodge Lafayette LA. They said they found a loose nut on starter and said battery was weak (false). Changed battery and charged $382.83 for services. Drove for about35 minutes and did it again. No change. Dodge needs to repair this. I have heard multiple complaints about this, so surprising no recall notice??? I have a video of dash while driving…

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Trucks guage cluster LCD display information center located behind the steering wheel, does not illuminate, and or work at all anymore. I cannot see warnings, issues with the truck, cautions, information, mileage, use the safety systems included with the truck, use automatic park assist, and know if the air bag system is functioning correctly. Anything that the screen is required for cannot be used, safety systems included. I cannot monitor vehicle temperatures, vehicle hours, or trip miles.. The analog guages work, but that is all. This is a huge safety issue and this should not be an issue. Current mileage is 57,589. The vehicle has been inspected by a certified ram dealer and they have told me I must replace the cluster since i am out of warrenty. The issue the ram dealer recognized as 'cluster internally failed' and must be completely replaced since the cluster is one unit, and the electronics are internal. There has been an individual recall issued for ONLY ONE 5th Generation 2019 Ram Limitied in regaurds to the cluster failure back in 2019. Ram cares says I am not covered. Why mine is not covered does not make sense to me. This is absolutely a safety concern, this is absolutely a danger not having access to any safety systems or information about the vehicle/truck, tire pressure, engine and trans temp, and everything mentioned above.
