ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

In March of 2020, I took the car into the dealership due to the multiple times I had to charge the car, their answer was I wasn’t driving the car enough. They charged the battery and told me I needed to drive the car at least 20 minutes every couple of days at 50mph+ in order to keep the battery charged. In August of 2020 I had just loaded up the car to go on a vacation and when I went to leave the house the car would not start. After charging the battery for 30 minutes in the garage it then started. Fast forward to June of 2021, I have had to charge the battery 4 more times in order for it to start. The last time was when we were leaving a campground in May, 2021, and the car wouldn’t start due to the battery. Fortunately the campground had a charger and got us back on the road.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

On numerous occasions (probably 12-18 times) over the last 18 months our new Ascent will not start because of a dead battery. I have discussed this numerous times with the dealer, they have even performed tests on it but claim that it passes all tests so there is nothing they can do. No doors are being left open or lights on, yet every few weeks this problem occurs. My wife cannot take the car to the store without worrying about it not starting properly and having to get a jump from someone.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

Unknown. Electrical failures including eyesight, the dealers lie about the work they do, the latest was recent - they said sludge was everywhere which causes the timing to be off and said the entire engine needed to be replaced but refused to do so. I do not trust they were honest about the spot welds, as my VIN and contract were mysteriously changed after I took delivery. Battery dies, amp dies, head unit stops functioning for months at a time. Eyesight slams on brakes at last minute. I am told it’s normal to shut up and leave. For example the last time I took it in less than 30 days ago they said they changed the filters as well. They did not. According to them they owe me a new engine. I have Starlink and documents oil is changed by Subaru yet they claimed they had no record, and it is my fault so I need to replace engine.

WHEN I WENT TO START CAR WHEN FINISHED ICE CREAM ABOUT 10 MIN LATER MY CAR WOULDN'T START AND COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. COULDN'T EVEN PUT IN NEUTRAL OR TURN THE WHEEL. I CALLED AAA AND THE CAME AND TOLD MY MY BATTERY HEALTH WAS ONLY 30% AND HAD A ZERO CHARGE. HE CHANGED THE BATTERY FOR ME AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY BUT WE WERE LUCKY TO BE IN AN AREA WITH HELP. NOT ALWAYS THE CASE FOR PHONE RECEPTION IN SOME AREAS. THIS CAR IS NOT EVEN 3 YRS OLD. HAD IT BEEN SUMMER IT COULD HAVE GOTTEN EXTREMELY HOT AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY SELF AND MY SON. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED ESPECIALLY SINCE WE DID NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. I HAVE MUCH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND IT IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND KEPT IN AN ATTACHED GARAGE.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

MY CAR STARTED TO HAVE BATTERY ISSUES EITHER LAST YEAR OR EARLY THIS YEAR. THE BATTERY ISSUES ARE GETTING WORSE. AT THE VERY BEGINNING, THE BATTERY DIED AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS NOT DRIVING; WHICH WAS SHOCKING BECAUSE IT IS A FAIRLY NEW CAR. TODAY THE BATTERY DIED JUST OVERNIGHT; I WAS DRIVING TO WORK YESTERDAY AND WE WERE ABOUT TO DRIVE TO HERSHEY PARK TODAY:( THERE ALREADY HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES OF ROADSIDE SERVICE FOR THE JUMP START WHEN THE MILLAGE WAS LESS THAN 20000. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE BATTERY DRAINS DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC DESIGN. HE SUGGESTED I DRIVE THE CAR EVERYDAY JUST TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. REALLY!?

AFTER HAVING THE CAR PARKED OUTDOORS AT A RESTAURANT FOR AN HOUR, I COME BACK TO THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED STARTING FROM THE BOTTLE THAT TRAVELED UPWARDS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT SOMETHING MAY HAVE HIT MY WINDSHIELD WHILE I WAS HAVING LUNCH, BUT THERE WAS NO INDICATION ANYTHING HAD STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK INCREASED TO ABOUT 24INCH IN LENGTH. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT

ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON LAST WEEK MAY 5TH 2021 WHILE I WAS DRIVINGTHECARHONE AFTER DROPPING MY DAUGHTERTOSCHOOL. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISE TO TAKE THE CAR IN. AS I DROVE THE ENGINE STARTED TO LAG AND ICOULDNOTDRIVE MORE THAN 45MILES. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. THIS CAR IS 2 1/2 YEARS OLD AND I'VE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. WHEN THE CVT WAS REPLACED THE CAR NEVER RUN THE SAME, I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. IT LAGS AND HESITATE DURIBG ACCELERATION. UNFORTUNATELY THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THAT IT WAS NORMAL. THEN THIS HAPPEN. I HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO SUBARU OF AMERICA.

Potential Consequences:

THE BATTERY IN OUR CAR WAS DEAD AFTER ACCIDENTALLY LEAVING THE TAILGATE DOOR OPEN FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS. WE DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS ENOUGH TO DO IT BUT JUM STARTED IT AND IT WAS OK FOR A DAY BUT THEN WOULDN'T START REGULARLY WITHOUT LEAVING ANY DOORS OPEN. WE TOOK IT INTO SUBARU AND ULTIMATELY HAD THE BATTER CHANGED EVEN THOUGH THEY TOLD US IT WASN'T THE BATTERY. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN TODAY WHEN WE WENT TO USE IT. WE MAYBE LEFT THE TAILGATE OPEN FOR 30 MINUTES A FEW DAYS AGO UNLOADING GROCERIES. THAT SEEMS A LITTLE EXTREME. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN OUR DRIVEWAY BUT IT HAPPENED AT A PARKING GARAGE BEFORE TOO LEAVING ME TO NEED TO GET A RIDE.
