FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Potential Consequences:
I was driving the car on supervised self drive and going home around 9 pm. When I reached my house I tapped the break to disengage the FSD and take over so that I can pull into our driveway. After coming to a stop the car all of a sudden just took off on its own at almost 60 mph on a residential street. I was repeatedly pressing on the brake to try to control the car. But it seemed like the car had a mind of its own and was not responding to me at all. approximately 8 seconds (based on Tesla dashcam recordings) later after travelling a distance of approximately 700 feet the car hit 2 parked cars on the street, which eventually activated the brake and brought the car to a stop at the front yard of a house across the street from where the parked cars were hit.

The windshield has a huge crack that just appeared out of nowhere. We took it to the shop and they said it wasn’t from a rock. There is no chip in the glass. Apparently a stress fracture. The crack is getting bigger every day and becoming a distraction while driving. Tesla said we are 10,000 miles over our warranty even though the vehicle is only 2 years old. It seems like they used cheap glass as this is common in the Tesla forums and chats.

Potential Consequences:
Rear lift gate misaligned and having issue closing the trunk after 2 years of owning. Im concern since I have to push down on the trunk to latch, that it may unlatch while driving and lift gate will open. If the trunk doesnt latch, vehicle will not shift to drive. I took the vehicle to a Tesla service center where they told me that my left hinge of the liftgate needs to be replace and to take it to a body shop. How can a metal hinge be a problem on a 2 years vehicle. I believe that the material are poorly made if this happens in just 2 year old vehicle, I wonder if this vehicle can hold for another 3.

The contact owns a 2022 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with the Full Self-Driving (FSD) activated, the destination was entered, and the system announced the direction steps when suddenly the Full Self-Driving (FSD) disengaged independently causing the driver to be required to take control of the vehicle. During the independent disengagement of the Full Self-Driving (FSD), the vehicle abruptly decelerated. The contact was concerned that the failure could result in a crash if a rear vehicle was tailgating. In addition, the contact stated that the Full Self-Driving (FSD) independently disengaging occurred during excessive sun exposure. On a separate occasion, the contact stated that the Full Self-Driving (FSD) was engaged and driving at various speeds, and the vehicle independently maneuvered into oncoming traffic on a 4-lane road causing the contact to have to take over control of the vehicle. A crash was avoided; however, the contact was concerned that if there had been a median barrier it could have resulted in a crash. In addition, the contact stated there was a second occasion where the vehicle was in Full Self-Driving (FSD) and veered into oncoming traffic, and manual control of the vehicle was required. The failure was recorded via the Tesla App and the data was entered via AI. A dealer was contacted, and a service appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The Tesla Service Advisor informed the contact that moisture entered the camera and the windshield causing the failure and it was a known issue, but only an interim repair was currently available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with the Full Self-Driving (FSD) activated, the destination was entered, and the system announced the direction steps when suddenly the Full Self-Driving (FSD) disengaged independently causing the driver to be required to take control of the vehicle. During the independent disengagement of the Full Self-Driving (FSD), the vehicle abruptly decelerated. The contact was concerned that the failure could result in a crash if a rear vehicle was tailgating. In addition, the contact stated that the Full Self-Driving (FSD) independently disengaging occurred during excessive sun exposure weather. Collision while using Summon feature on a Tesla. I was parked, rear end in, in a parking stall at work. A minivan was parked, front end in, in the stall adjacent to me. The two cars were facing opposite directions with the drivers side of each car next to each other. As I approached my car, from a distance of about 100ft, I used the Tesla app to summon my car to me. I pressed and held down the "Come to Me" button and my car lights went on and the car began moving forward then made a sudden, unexpected sharp left turn before pulling out of the stall. The turn was too sharp and a collision was imminent. I let the button go on the app, but it was too late and my drivers side back door panel scraped the rear drivers side bumper of the minivan next to me. I got into the car, manually backed up and surveyed the damage. I thought it was minor, but I reported it to the minivan owner. Due to an estimate of damage in the several thousand dollar range, I filed a claim with my insurance company. They repaired the damage to the minivan. I deferred any repair to my own car because I thought it was minimal. No injuries occurred as the result of this collision. I believe that all Tesla have an issue where the brake lights do not turn on soon enough when the vehicle is slowing down especially at slower speeds and I feel this makes them get in a lot of rear end accidents at lower speeds. I've seen many videos online of people getting hit and the car in front of them is braking and the Tesla slows down with no brake lights then the vehicle behind them hits them.
