POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Driving down [XXX] in Ohio, electrical components in the car started flashing and the check engine light came on. "Charging malfunction" something or other and it also said "steering power low". Then the car completely shutoff and I had to coast to the shoulder. It was then towed and is at a local shop. It's a 2019 with 75,000 miles - this should not have happened. I saw the 2020 Camry 2.5 liter recall for a crack in the engine, it would not surprise me if that is also what happened to my car. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

On March 13th, 2024, while pulling into the driveway and lightly accelerating due to the slight incline of the driveway, the accelerator pedal fell from under my foot. The car accelerated hard, plowing through the garage door, a washer/dryer unit, a storage rack and into the back wall of the garage. The car bounced back but was still accelerating, leaving marks from the tire spinning in the garage. The brakes were ineffective in stopping the vehicle. After hitting the wall I was able to shut the car off using the key. The airbags did not deploy. Note: The car has molded OEM floormats that were secure at the time of the accident. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and the insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss.
