Defect Description:
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
A stop sale order was placed the following Monday after I signed my lease of the 2022 VW TAOS with 4MOTION. Not only was I not contacted about this safety recall but upon taking it in for severe turbo lag reasons on Sep21 I was informed that it was unsafe to drive and needed to be kept for an undetermined extended period of time with no loaner or rental. I’m paying 500 a month to lease and insure a brand new car that I simply cannot use? It’s unacceptable. VW needs to buy back my car so that I can be in a reliable safe vehicle from somewhere else.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
The vehicle drives well and the problems surface without any prior indication or warning. The PROBLEM: while driving the vehicle slows down to about 10-15 mph. when I try to press the gas pedal, the vehicle does not increase speed. In addition there is a loud sound coming from the engine. also, there is a grating/vibration as if one drives on a gravel road. The service light shows up in red, and the "+" sign next to "D" shows red: I use the "D" to drive and not the overdrive. The gear lever does not release as it is stuck. My wife and I feel very alarmed because the cars behind are braking and blowing their horns. I managed to slowly drive off the main road to the nearest parking and turned off the ignition. When I turned on the engine again I was able to continue. I have been calling for an appointment to correct the problem but have not been able to get an appointment as of date. I am scared to drive the vehicle. I am having it towed to the dealership. I leased the vehicle on 6/3/21. The problem first occurred on 6/18/21. It occurred again on 9/15/21, and 9/17/21

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Yesterday afternoon, while driving on I-55 in heavy Chicago Saturday traffic, my Taos 4Motion stalled out (mid-drive) in the middle lane of I-55, and I was nearly smashed into by several vehicles. My gas pedal didn't work, and yet my car appeared to be on. In an effort to find a way out of danger as fast as possible, I managed to get the car going again, only to have it stall out a second time (mid-drive) while trying to get onto a shoulder to safety. I was nearly smashed into again. Three hours after a VW roadside assistance tow truck got to me, I learned that a mere six days after I purchased my Taos 4Motion, VW issued (1) a recall on the specific problem I have described, and more importantly, (2) issued a stop-sale order on Taos models with 4Motion. I was never informed of this recall, and I have since learned VW is not sending notice of this recall until October 5, 2021. This is unacceptable. People could die, and no one is saying anything. I spoke by telephone with Nick Faciano of VW Crystal Lake Illinois this morning--my dealership--and he informed me that he had spoken with VW corporate representative that morning and that, and I quote directly, "I even contacted Volkswagen corporate this morning and again, they're still telling us not to contact the customers, that they're doing it." Obviously, this has not been done. And it's already too late for me to be notified. What about the next person? Will someone have to be smashed on I-55 or anywhere else, and die, before VW does something about it? A recall that customers are not notified about when a stop sale order has been put in place is irresponsible and calling for a lawsuit---peoples lives are on the line.

A recall that customers are not notified about when a stop sale order has been put in place is irresponsible and calling for a lawsuit---peoples lives are on the line.
Corrective Action:

I picked my VW Taos up yesterday 8/10 from the Dealership in New Hampshire. The car shut off and stalled several times. It also shuts off by itself without pushing the engine off button. It happens at every stop the vehicle makes. This car feels very unsafe to drive. The dealership is over an hour away from me as I am in Massachusetts. I have notified them about these issues and they told me they would get it in and have it looked at. When I put the vin number in to this site, a recall alert came up which I was not informed by the dealership about or I would not have bought this vehicle.

I just returned my leased 2017 Tiguan and leased a 2022 Taos. The Taos does not have a front passenger seat height adjustment. When I test drove the Taos, the tall vw salesperson was sitting in the front passenger seat while I was driving and my girlfriend was sitting in the back seat. The VW salesperson did not tell me that there is no front passenger seat height adjustment. My girlfriend cannot see over the dashboard when sitting in the front passenger seat. I purchased a seat cushion that raises her 4 inches but now the front passenger airbag light will not turn off so if we are in a car accident the driver airbag will deploy but the front passenger seat airbag will not deploy. I need to have the front passenger seat replaced with a front passenger seat that has a manual height adjustment or I need a different car. Can you please help me? I have been a lifetime loyal customer of VW Porsche Audi and do not understand why a manual front passenger seat height adjustment would not be included in any of your products. The VW salespeople need to make sure that customers know that there is no front passenger seat height adjustment prior to purchasing the Taos S and the Taos SE. The Tiguan S models that I had all had front passenger seat height adjustment. Can you please help me? Thank you.
