The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock-up.

Potential Risk:
Rear wheel lock-up can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Recall Date: Feb 1, 2024
Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park.

Potential Risk:
An unlatched tailgate may open while driving and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. 3.2K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Sep 29, 2021
Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles with electronic brake control modules (EBCM) replaced during vehicle assembly. The bolts that attach the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly may not be properly tightened, which could fail to seal the two sub-assemblies and allow water intrusion.

Potential Risk:
Water in the BPMV may cause an electrical short circuit and increase the risk of fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Owners are advised to park outside and away from other structures until the recall repair is completed. Dealers will replace the BPMV assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 20, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and GMC Sierra 2500 vehicles equipped with a 17" spare tire (RPO ZHQ or ZXT) and either the 20" accessory road tire (RPO REM) or the 18" accessory road tire (RPO Q2V). Operating the spare tire with other 20" or 18" tires can prevent the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) from engaging.

Potential Risk:
An ABS system that cannot control the rear wheels independently increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will provide the appropriate spare tire and apply a new spare tire information label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 18, 2021. Incorrect bolts may have been used at one or more fastening locations to secure the seat belts to the vehicle. If an incorrect bolt was used, the seat belt may not be properly attached to the vehicle.

Potential Risk:
If a seat belt assembly is not properly attached to the vehicle, the seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Defect Description:

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Starting smelling gas inside of the cab, at first thought it was non-issue, but the smell persisted. Several days passed, and when I went to warm up my truck in the morning smelled a strong gas odor, and when I looked under the engine - there was a pool of gas, and gas was leaking. Took it in to the dealership (thinking it was a simple loose filter line) but they now say that it is more than that. Not sure if this has been a re-occurring issue with these new trucks, but it could have been a very dangerous situation.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Brakes: the brakes do not stop the vehicle without excessive pressure to the pedal. Especially carrying a trailer with the exhaust brake & trailer brakes in effect. Takes excessive distance for vehicle to stop. Pedal must be pressed 3/4 to the floor for it to start to apply brakes. It is extremely difficult to stop this vehicle at any speed over 45mph. Have not taken to dealer, was expecting a recall but none until now. Steering: when I turn the steering wheel at low speeds such as backing into a parking spot, there’s a loud squealing noise coming from the engine bay.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

Potential Consequences:

Front Park Assist (FPA) system did not provide any level of advanced alert until after impact when all conditions were fully met as stated in the user's manual for the Park Assist system. NOTE: Text after bullets are extracts from user's manual while test in () are owner's feedback during incident when FPA failed to alert. •as the vehicle moves at speeds of less than 8 km/h (5 mph) ( the vehicle was going 1-2 MPH) •the sensors on the bumpers may detect objects up to 1.2 m (4 ft) in front (Front Park Assist (FPA) detection was not until pipe contact was made with bumper/sensor) •within a zone 25 cm (10 in) high off the ground and below bumper level. (Pipe was in full zone from 0 to >30" high) •Blocked sensors will not detect objects and can also cause false detections. Keep the sensors clean of mud, dirt, snow, ice, and slush; and clean sensors after a car wash in freezing temperatures. (The sensor was not blocked in anyway. The truck has never been in mud, dirt, snow, ice, or slush.) •When an object is first detected in the rear, one beep will be heard from the rear, or both sides of the Safety Alert Seat will pulse two times. (Initial FPA alert level was never reported) •(There was not an intermediate level description in the user's manual as implemented by GM. Intermediate FPA "yellow" alert was never reported) •or <0.3 m (1 ft) in the vehicle front — a continuous beep will sound (Continuous beep from FPA was reported only after contact was made with the pipe) •The Park Assist system does not detect children, pedestrians, bicyclists, animals, or objects located below the bumper or that are too close or too far from the vehicle. (The pipe as an object was above bumper height and passed from outside the range slowly (1-2mph) until contact was made without any alert from the FPA) This is a single occurrence issue and was reported to GM.

(The pipe as an object was above bumper height and passed from outside the range slowly (1-2mph) until contact was made without any alert from the FPA) This is a single occurrence issue and was reported to GM.

Defect Description:

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

I'M HAVING A SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH THE EXTREMELY LARGE SIDE MIRRORS CAUSING A BLIND SPOT WITH CROSSING TRAFFIC. I BELIEVE I'M A VERY CAREFUL DRIVER TO AVOID ACCIDENTS, SO A COUPLE DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I CAME TO AN INTERSECTION AND STOPPED TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO CROSSING TRAFFIC BEFORE DRIVING THROUGH. AS I BEGAN TO GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, I NEARLY PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF A CROSSING VEHICLE, A VEHICLE THAT WAS NO WHERE IN VIEW WHEN I STARTED TO GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I WAS THINKING TO MYSELF WHERE DID THAT VEHICLE COME FROM? A FEW DAYS LATER I NEARLY DID THE SAME THING AGAIN, AND I REALIZED I WASN'T DOING ANYTHING WRONG, THAT IT WAS THAT HUGE SIDE MIRROR CREATING SUCH A HUGE BLOND SPOT THAT WHEN THE CROSSING VEHICLE IS AT A CERTAIN POINT THE MIRROR TOTALLY BLOCKS THE VIEW OF THAT VEHICLE. I AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT HAVING AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS LARGE MIRROR. I'M CONSIDERING GOING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THE TRUCK CAN BE FITTED WITH A SMALLER MIRROR, BUT THERE IS PROBABLY A HUGE COST TO THE CUSTOMER. THERE MUST BE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS TRUCK HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T THINK THAT I HAVE EVER COMPLAINED TO THENHTSA , BUT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I'M WORRIED.
