Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
the transmission on my 2017 chevy traverse began shuddering in August 2023 after our family came back from vacation it usually happens between 2nd and 3rd gear and /or 4th and 5th gear going to 60mph. I had changed the transmission fluid around 60M miles per the manufacturers recommendation. I performed and flush and fill with new dexron VI full synthetic transmission fluid on 10/14/23, after the flush and fill the transmission ran better for about a week but it had gotten worse since then. I constantly worry that the transmission will fail when I am on the road and possibly cause and accident. I don't have another vehicle to use , my next option is to take it to the dealer to see what they can do but based on the reports i have read I know that there is no easy fix. I really would like to have Chevy or GM come up with a resolution for all the folks that have this same problem.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
My Chevrolet Traverse was purchased in July 2019. At that time, the vehicle had 58667 miles. As I drove the vehicle over the next year and half or so, approaching 80000 miles the vehicle would shudder/shake/jerk as I accelerated and shifted gears. At first it was very random and not predictable. The first two times I had my mechanic try to diagnose the issue, they were not able to feel the car doing what I was describing. The issue got worse and more frequent. I took the car to a transmission repair shop in August 2021 at approximately 120000. At this point, the jerk/shake occurred almost every time I shifted gears when traveling at speeds less than 50mph. I was told that a transmission flush/service would help with the issue temporarily but that many Chevrolet/GM models are known to have faulty transmissions and it would eventually need to be replaced. I've parked this vehicle for a majority of the past two years. A combination of COVID and the option to telecommute along with having a spare vehicle in the family, I was able to only drive the Traverse when absolutely necessary. I'm not the only one who has experienced this same shudder/jerk for a 6-cyclinder transmission. There are class action lawsuits out there for other GM models with a similar problem. I'm bringing this to your attention now because it has become as safety issue for me and my family. The last three times I've driven my Traverse, I was unable to accelerate efficiently in traffic which created driving hazards for myself and those traveling around me. The transmission put in this vehicle is faulty and should have been recalled along with the many others over the last couple years. I want this on record and other GM 6-cylinder transmissions reviewed for the same safety concerns.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving between the 1500 - 2000 RPMs the engine would begin to feel as if it were misfiring. The vehicle would seem to hesitate and jerk whenever accelerating as if there was a delayed throttle response. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer twice at which time the spark plugs and boots had been replaced. Sometime after doing so, while driving approximately 35 MPH there was suddenly grinding noise coming from the front-end. After slowing down to approximately 20 MPH, in response to the grinding noise, the vehicle suddenly jerked then stalled. There were no warning lights. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
