Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Unbeknownst to me, there was water pump leak which led to overheating, and eventually coolant being dumped into the engine. Originally diagnosed as a P0305 cylinder 5 misfire. Teardown revealed that the water pump had been leaking for quite some time, causing subsequent follow on damage. Engine needs to be replaced and AUL Corp will not cover the damages. We are a family of four, and would regularly transport other family and friends. Luckily we were without any incidents however, this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed in regards to these faulty Chrysler engines. I have read enough claims and horror stories in regards to the Chrysler Pacificas and am in shock that there was never a recall or a extended warranty for owners like myself who is now stuck with unsafe van, that doesn't work, and requires too much money to fix. We loved the van however, this experience has told me to steer clear from AUL Corp, and any Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep vehicles for forever.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
During driving an orange check engine warning light is turned on. In 5 minutes from then, a red warning message "engine is overheating" turned on, I stopped immediately in the middle of the road and this warning message turned off. I checked for coolant and saw an empty container. No engine coolant warning light were turned on previously warning me of the coolant issue. I didn't use the car and added coolant Later that day I tried to use the car and it was operating normally. My car was sitting in the garage for a couple of days while I was waiting for the appointment to do the diagnostic. In two days the check engine warning lamp turned off. On the day of my appointment the car didn't start and was towed to the dealership for the check up. After series of diagnostics I was told engine is locked up and needs to be replaced. My car had only 75000 miles at that moment and just 3000 miles from the last oil change.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Car was serviced for a gas leak at a Chrysler Dealership the previous day. The next morning, I was driving at a low speed (<20 mph) when an error message appeared "Car must be in P (park) to place in drive." I switched to P and tried to restart the engine. It turned over several times but never restarted. A police officer had to manually disengage the transmission and emergency brake to put the car in neutral and roll it to a turn lane (rather than in heavy traffic). The car was towed to a dealership and is still being diagnosed. We had no driving issues prior to the car stalling this morning, even with the previous gas leak mentioned above.

The driver-side sliding door will continue to open when trying to close it. When we activate the auto-shut, it will close all the way, beep, and then open back up. Potential Consequences:
While turning to the intersection the van stop suddenly. On the dashboard there's a flashing "shift to P to start" message. There were no signs and warnings before it happened and there were no symptoms as well. This incident is very scary especially my three kids are with me as I just picked them up from the school. It also cause traffic in the intersection and frustration from the other drivers because everyone was accelerating and had to make a sudden stop. I believe that this is an electrical problem and it is a total safety hazard. It could be a major accident if this happen while driving in the freeway. Now I am scared to drive this van and very worried for the safety of my family.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On the highway the temp gauge went all the way to hot and then immediately went back to normal temp. We pulled over on the shoulder of the busy highway and let it sit for a bit, and it never showed hot again and stayed in the normal range. Drove 5 more miles to home and checked the coolant and it was almost empty. We filled it and kept checking it every day. Had to add more every other day till we could get it in to a mechanic. a few days later the engine idled rough and check engine light came on. Took to mechanic and he said code P03305 showed as a mis fire in cylinder #3. He replaced the coil pack and spark plug and did a pressure test on the coolant system to see if he could find the leak. He said I could find a leak and bet that it was a crack head leaking coolant into cylinder #3. Ran better for another week or so while we were waiting for our appointment at the dealership to have them look into where the leak was. 2 days before our appointment at the dealership, we had the same rough idle and code P03050 saying misfire in cylinder #3. I replaced just the spark plug and then took it to the dealership. They misdiagnosed the problem as the reservoir was leaking. After they replaced it, we were back 2 weeks later with the coolant still leaking somewhere. They eventually found the head was warped due to excessive heat and coolant leaking into the #3 cylinder. This van has around 73,000 miles on it. After researching, it seems Chrysler has a faulty engine that is causing people to break down on the highway which is not a safe place to be. Please look into Chrysler's faulty 3.6 penstar motor problems.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
-stalling out in the middle of driving (on 270 with the kids in the car, forced me to put it in park and turn it off and back on) - unable to start car initially, error message stating that the power brake is on (it's not) an unable to switch gears to get car to start (this took 10 minutes to fix with kids in car in parking lot) - car will not accelerate at appropriate speed, leaving me stuck at a stop sign or when the light turns green (again, kids in car) - power doors not opening/shutting, needing to manually open and close - heating/AC blowing out at random intervals, inconsistent air flow - random dashboard buttons lighting up indicating there are problems, but then the buttons diminish

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
I bought this Pacifica used 2 months ago and was told there were no issues with it by Carvana. During this time frame I have taken it to 2 mechanics to have it looked at for running rough. Was told it was my fuel sensor needing replaced. We tried replacing that and less than a week later my transmission is now saying Gear 2 incorrect ratio. I have put approximately 6000 miles on it in a 2 month period. The vehicle only has 61050 miles on it. The transmission acts like it is slipping when I’m trying to drive it or other times it will jerk really bad which was mentioned to both mechanics when they looked at it.
