ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

My 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT driver side sliding door is jammed shut and locked. I took it to 2 dealerships near me and both want almost $1000 per door to fix. The actuator is out and they said the loud noise when opening and closing the passenger side sliding door is a sign that door is also about to go out. My VIN doesn’t fall into the recalls. This seems like it is a hazard. If both doors indeed get stuck then how do you get car seats in and out? Isn’t it dangerous if other kids have to climb in and out the front doors? I’m so confused how this isn’t a recall when it will be dang near impossible to move car seats and kids through front doors or even moving 3rd row to get in and out and put back up for it to be sat in. What do you do in event of a crash if you can get kids out? Please help! This has been going on since March 2024. ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

I had the check engine light on for an unknown amount of time, as the initially lookover of the vehicle with the dealership advised it was a gascap sensor. However, they did attempt to fix by changing the sparkplugs when it was inspected June 2024 which didn't correct the issue. Since then, it has been looked at by 2 mechanic shops due to the following problem. When I drive at 40+ mph, the car starts shaking violently. When ran with diagnostic/ testing the engine, it was found that Cylinder 2 keeps misfiring/ has a pressure issue, even after replacing the spark plugs and the fuel injector. Even after replacing those components, the cylinder misfire , lowered compression, and the shaking while driving all still persisted. They suggested fixing the issue with replacing the entire engine and avoiding driving until then, as driving it could potentially cause the engine to stop working while driving/ cause an accident. The dealership advised the engine issue would fall under the powertrain. It is available for review, as I have avoided driving it since, due to worries that the car will either stop working while I drive it, or the engine could result in an accident.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

I was driving down the road at about 40 MPH when the transmission suddenly went out, posing a safety risk to not only myself, but other drivers on the road. It went out of gear, wouldn't go back in, and luckily enough, I was on a town road and not a highway. I had my vehicle towed and a transmission repair shop confirmed the entire transmission was completely blown out, which is ridiculous for a 5-year-old vehicle. Despite having over 150,000 miles, this still shouldn't be an issue. Besides the obvious safety risks, I'm now left with an over $5,000 repair bill.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Drivers side passenger sliding rear door is stuck in the locked position and will not open. I believe the door actuator is froze in the locked position. A disabled person who was riding in that seat was unable to get out the vehicle on his own. He had to be moved to the other side and exit the working door. Had there been an emergency, we would have lost a lot of valuable time. I have an appointment with dodge for an inspection. Google searches find many people have this same issue.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

UNKNOWN The reverse camera does not function properly when the vehicle is hot or when the vehicle is in a hot environment. It consistently fails to show a picture of what is behind the vehicle when the vehicle is left in the sun or when the vehicle has been running and the engine is still hot. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has not been inspected by an independent service center. Nor has the vehicle been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There are no warning lamps or messages. However, when it's hot outside the vehicle, the speedometer screen on the driver's dashboard is faded. It stays faded until cabin cools down and then it no longer looks faded. Each time it fades, the reverse camera doesn't work. When the outside environment is cold outside the speedometer screen and reverse camera work fine.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The driver's side sliding door will not unlock or open. It was working previously without any problems and now it will no longer open remotely or manually. This is very unsafe for my passengers since they would be trapped inside the vehicle in an emergency or accident situation. I am aware of this being an ongoing problem with the Dodge Caravan Lock Actuator and that a recall was issued for 2015-2017 models. This recall needs to be expanded to include all years from 2018-2020 as it is the same faulty Lock Actuator problem. There is also a class action lawsuit regarding the faulty Lock Actuators. Please put pressure on FCA US, LLC to expand the recall and fix all of their faulty Lock Actuators. Thank you.
