Recall Date: Jul 11, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Escape vehicles equipped with 1.5L engines. A fuel injector may crack and leak fuel inside the engine compartment.

Potential Risk:
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source, such as hot engine or exhaust components, can increase the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
The remedy is currently under development. As an interim repair, dealers will update the engine control software, free of charge. Owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed August 18, 2025. Second letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Recall Date: Jun 27, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.

Potential Consequences:

Battery / 12V system failure. Vehicle will not start, requires jump start to start vehicle. Battery does not sufficiently re-charge while vehicle is running and requires jump start next time vehicle is needs to be started. This issue has left me stranded on multiple occasions. The dealer has not reviewed the vehicle yet and no parts have been inspected. Problem first occurred two weeks into ownership / 400miles. There are no official indicators of issue, however I did notice that the auto stop/start feature does not function when driving as an early tell that the 12V system does not have sufficient charge.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Upon attempting to start vehicle every warning indicator flashed in series across the screen and the SUV would not start nor was the vehicle lockable. Also, the rear door and access glass (where tools, safety equipment, and spare tire is located) could not be opened. The vehicle would not start and could not be placed in neutral to push the vehicle to a safe location. The manufacturer informed me a "failure to communicate" was indicated in their system. Had this occurred in an unsafe location such as on a highway or in a physically dangerous location occupants would be placed in danger from other moving vehicles and/or criminal activity. Operators of this model MUST 1.) Be able to place the vehicle in neutral when needed. 2.) Be able to manually open the rear liftgate and/or rear glass to obtain safety and repair equipment. 3.) Be able to manually lock the vehicle as needed to secure both occupants and contents. I have scheduled a maintenance visit/repair with an authorized Ford dealer in Joplin, Missouri to address multiple instances of "Loss of Communication" as reported to Ford Motor Corp.

TIRES

Potential Consequences:

All 4 Continental PRO CONTACT TX tires on 1 week old brand new purchased Ford Bronco Sport VIN [XXX] from Ford Dealer Swelling on Sidewalls in various points. After researching amongst other Bronco Sport Forums issue appears to be common failure on New Bronco Sports equipped with Continental PRO CONTACT TX tires. Requested tires to be changed at Dealer, they found 1 Bronco Sport with Balled up Sidewall issues and wanted to replace "like for like" admitting they have a some sort of FACTORY defect but would not exchange tires for ones with "OUT" Factory Defect. I believe there is Faulty Construction on Sidewall of tire or Like FORD Dealer stated some sort of MANUFACTURER DEFECT. On certain CONTINENTAL PRO CONTACT TX tires from Factory. Symptoms were first noticed 6 days after having possession of new vehicle. And the Swelling appears to be moving TOWARDS the tire TREAD itself. The swelling has become increasingly noticeable and raises concerns about the safety and performance of these tires for my Family Vehicle and others having the same issues. Given the importance of tire integrity for vehicle safety, I believe this issue warrants immediate attention and investigation. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and advise on any necessary actions or precautions that should be taken. Ensuring the safety of consumers is crucial, and I trust that NHTSA will address this issue promptly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Defect Description:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

On [XXX], my 2024 Ford Bronco Sport spontaneously burst into flames while driven by my [XXX] son. Per a local bystander, there was smoke and fire observed around the undercarriage as he drove down the road. Multiple vehicles began honking while stopped at a red light. A driver alerted my son of the fire. He was able to evacuate along with his [XXX] sister. As they were fleeing to the median of an active highway, the vehicle burst into flames. After several explosions the vehicle continued to burn and melt until the fire dept extinguished the flames. Prior to spontaneous combustion, there were no symptoms of gas leaks or error messages. Nor were there any fluid leaks. There were no error messages or signs of vehicle distress even while my children were driving & engulfed in flames. If bystanders had not flagged down my son, my children may have still been inside the vehicle when the fire & explosions consumed them. The fire department ultimately inspected the vehicle for damage. I am still awaiting their report. Initial conversations on the scene indicated an engine fire. On June 11th, my insurer commissioned an engineer to inspect the vehicle for causation. No report currently available. The vehicle was brand new; purchased just 6 weeks ago. At the time we purchased, 2022 & 2023 models had an open safety recall for fire risk due to a fuel injection defect. There were no reported design updates for the 2024 model. Nor were the recall fixes recommended in Feb 2024 installed on my Bronco purchased late April. It is my position that both Ford & the dealership knew or should have known the 2024 models would have the same defect and fire risk. Disturbing they sold their defective vehicle to my family. The dealership claims no responsibility or obligation to disclose risks. Ford refuses to speak with me given total loss status. My only recourse now is through my insurance. My children remain traumatized by their near death experience. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AC
