Defect Description:
STRUCTURE:BODY
Potential Consequences:
The rear hardtop panel on my 2022 Ford Bronco has developed serious cracking and surface separation after only three years of light, garage-kept use. The fiberglass is fracturing near the seams, exposing the underlying material. Water is now visibly collecting in the openings, which will lead to internal moisture intrusion, mold, and eventually corrosion of structural components underneath the hardtop mounting area. This poses a serious long-term safety concern, especially in the event of rear impacts or rollover situations. A Ford dealer inspected the issue and submitted a warranty claim, which was denied. The Ford representative acknowledged the damage but said they could not act without a recall or broader investigation. No warning lights or messages appeared; the issue is external and has progressed gradually. The damage began well before my bumper-to-bumper coverage expired, but has recently worsened. Ford’s own General Service Bulletin GSB 23-7174 lists rear hardtop panel cracking and edge delamination as warrantable conditions. My panel clearly fits those descriptions. Still, I was quoted nearly $10,000 for a full replacement, which is unreasonable. This is not an isolated case. Many 2021–2022 Bronco owners have posted identical problems online. Ford is clearly aware of this issue—which is why they issued that bulletin—but is denying claims unless pressured through complaints. I believe this is a materials or manufacturing defect and ask NHTSA to investigate this clear and ongoing failure.

Potential Consequences:
Rear passenger shock was leaking oil around braking system creating burnt oil smell while driving. At this point mileage for warranty was over by 2,000 miles and was not covered by Ford warranty. We had to pay over $900.00 for the replacement from Ford. Fast forward 2 months, on the freeway driving 70 mph, the rear driver’s side shock reservoir detached and almost hit the car behind us. Again, we are paying Ford again for the other shock. This recall really needs to be in forced a lot quicker because of the safety of other drivers.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
After owning the car for 3 years and two weeks my Check Brake System light went on. I took my car to the dealer and was told that I needed a new brake vacuum line. They replaced it with a different part than what was originally installed, leading me to believe that there is something wrong with the original part. And there is no recall for the original part. And because I was out of the warranty period, I had to pay for the $230 part plus $525 of labor. Total bill was $875 for a car just out of warranty.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The vehicle currently has three active recalls with each not having a remedy as of to date although one I was notified of 7 months ago. I have already had to have a faulty fuel pump repair within the first month or so of onset of purchase where vehicle just lost power and died on side of the road and had to be towed. Then had to fight the dealership and write complaint to Ford after having defective camshaft which took multiple attempts and documentation for FORD and the dealership to repair properly. Vehicle would shift between 2wd/4wd/AWD randomly while driving. Then I had been notified about a windshield wiper motor recall that just dropped of out the system before attempting repair. So never had that update ran or problem addressed. Now I have three other major safety recalls. Definitely a LEMON. Need Ford to stand behind their vehicle. I pay way too much not be safe. None of these failure or problems provided any prior warming indicators.
