Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Safety Issue:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 9, 2015, to August 12, 2016. During dealer servicing, the affected vehicles may be have been updated with incorrect Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software. This software can cause the ESC system to lose engine torque control, and not provide any warning lamps to warn the driver if there was an ABS or ESC system malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems" and number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

WITHIN THE NEXT THREE SECONDS THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND POWER STEERING WAS SHUT OFF. THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AT A DRAMATIC RATE LEAVING ME STRANDED. THE DRIVING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE THE ROADS POORLY AND I'VE HAD THEM ADJUSTED TWICE IN ORDER TO IMPROVE NIGHT DRIVING VISIBILITY. ALSO, THE DRIVER'S DOOR DOESN'T LATCH RELIABLY AND I'VE HAD IT ADJUST ED TWICE AND NOW THE DOOR WHISTLES. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT SIGNALS THE DOOR ISN'T PROPERLY SHUT. THERE IS POOR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE KEYLESS FOB AND THE DOOR UNLOCKING BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE ONGOING.

THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK. WE HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE IN STEERING, THE WHEEL TURNING OFF CENTER, NONE OF THE ISSUES REPORTED BY NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE ON THE WEB. BUT I CERTAINLY EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN AT SOME POINT. MY CONCERN IS HOW MANY REPORTS ARE ON THE WEB FROM OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCE THIS FAULT. AND THE MANY VARIATIONS OF HOW DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS CHOOSE TO MANAGE THE PROBLEM. EVERYTHING FROM REPLACING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE GOOD OLD "WELL, WE CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM" BRUSH OFF. ONCE AGAIN, I HAVE NOT YET VISITED MY FORD DEALER BUT EXPECT TO VERY QUICKLY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY WILL DO, IF THEY WILL DO ANYTHING, OR HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE.
