Defect Description:

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

On multiple occasions, our car has lurched out of gear going at fast speeds on the highway. It slips out of gear and the car shakes and then it lunges back into gear. On a few occasions, the gas pedal was also inoperable while the car was "finding the right gear". This has been extremely scary for my family when this has happened. The first time we took it to the dealership and they reprogrammed the transmission. Then, it happened again about 6 weeks after the fix, and this time the transmission valve had to be replaced.

SEAT BELTS

Potential Consequences:

The vehicle was in park, with the engine running. The tailgate was open as I was loading a stroller into the back and my infant into a back passenger seat car seat. The driver's door was open, back drivers side door open, and tailgate open. The front passenger's seat belt pretensioner deployed and it sounded as though something hit the vehicle. I walked around the car to inspect for damage and even looked on top of the vehicle for damage. No damage occurred as nothing hit the vehicle. My wife got into the car in the front passenger seat and could not move the seat belt. I walked around and verified that it could not be moved as it was in the rest position with the pre-tensioner deployed. Issue: Non-event with front passenger seat belt pre-tensioner deployment Available to be inspected: Yes Safety at risk: My wife just had a c-section and if deployed with her in it, would have been much worse. Additionally, cannot use the seat now that seat belt is inoperable. Issue been reproduced: No. The pre-tensioner goes off with explosive charge making reproduction impossible. Warning lamps present: No.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Multiple times our car has experienced issues of transmission stalling while at highway speeds, the most recent Wednesday August 7th upon acceleration on highway car lost power and ability to accelerate, a ticking noise was noticeable, very brief shifting alert came across dash and disappeared quickly, no alert was sent to my phone application. The engine did not completely die, but briefly had no power, after letting off of the gas momentarily and re trying the car shifted hard and began to accelerate again. We did take our car to the Ford garage in April of 2024 with these very complaints, we were told no such issues were found with our transmission and ended up having to pay a fee despite our car being under warranty.

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle 10 speed transmission issues. 3x in ford dealer for diagnostics and repairs. 3rd time they did a transmission rebuild. Vehicle was apparently deemed fixed and safe Since then I have almost had 2 head on collisions with 4kids and 3 adults in the vehicle at a speed of 60mph. I went to pass on a single lane road & as I pulled out and put my foot down on the gas the transmission clunked loud, went into neutral and just revved very high rpms. I had to pull back in to my lane in which the car behind me had moved up and there was no space. If it wasn’t a head on collision I could have been rear ended. I also slowed from 70mph to turn a corner and as I started the turn the transmission could find its gear and launched forward.
