A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

Potential Consequences:

So multiple times in this past year I have been driving my car as normal and when I approach an intersection, decreased my speed, then proceed to accelerate in order to move forward or turn ... while pressing the accelerator its like i have no power.. it goes into a limp mode. There is nothing that triggers this is behavior. It has occurred multiple times. It has occurred as I have came off the interstate and sat at intersection and also while in city limits. It has happened a handful of times and its not producing any engine light indicators when this is happening. I typically turn off car and then have to turn it back on for it to work again. This is extremely scary for myself and dangerous. I'm concerned about the safety of myself , my family, and other drivers on the road. Failing to accelerate properly at intersection could cause a collision. I've almost been rearended / caused traffic concern & delays attempting to maneuver my car safely off the to the side of road. I've seen multiple comments online about the same issue I took it to Ford Garage and they didn't know what it was and say it may be throttle body but their not sure. They were just guessing. I was also told they would try to see if it was covered under warranty but they weren't sure but I never heard back. They told me I could call but I was waiting on them to call. I also spoke to advance auto who said it may be Throttle body and/or acceleration pedal sensor. I am financing this car and honestly it has less than 60,000 miles and shouldn't be having these issues.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

First noted engine acting sluggish about a week prior to 2-13-24 oil change at Firestone. They suggested it may be the fuel injection system needing to be cleaned, which they performed on 2-14-24. Engine continued to run sluggish and was in fact worse than before, engine light came on 2-21-24 so Firestone replaced fuel injector that day. Error codes were reading misfire in cylinder 2, the engine was still full of carbon and other buildup so they thought there was still residue and thoroughly cleaned everything again after replacing fuel injector. On 2-22-24 I refueled after work and car would not start. AAA was dispatched to tow vehicle and I notified Firestone it would be brought in, fortunately after about 15 minutes I was able to start it and drive it to Firestone, engine light immediately came on. They looked at it first thing on 2-23-24 and engine started up normally, they suspected a faulty fuel canister valve (which was replaced in 2020) but that did not turn out to be the case, codes were again reading misfire in cylinder 2. White smoke began emitting from exhaust and they discovered spark plugs as well as engine cylinders were soaked with oil, also coolant was nearly gone despite no signs of a leak. Upon doing research they discovered this website and pending class action lawsuits against Ford for faulty engine design that knowingly causes coolant to leak into cylinders, thus causing engine block to fail. They advised me to trade/sell the car immediately but also to have Ford give their opinion. AAA towed the car to Sarasota Ford on 2-28-24 and they called on 3-1-24 to report the engine had completely failed and it would cost $12,000 to replace. I declined and will arrange for AAA to tow it home until we can sell the vehicle for scrap per advisor's suggestion as it cannot be traded or sold in this condition. I have spent thousands in repairs/Ubers as Ford refuses to cover cost or provide a loaner, also had to open Firestone credit card just to cover repairs

STEERING

Potential Consequences:

The steering wheel became wobbly and loose. Took it to the Whaling City Ford in New London CT. and they said that although this type of issue was the subject of a recall, this particular car/VIN was not part of that recall, and they would charge $60 just to diagnose the issue. Called Ford later in the day and they said the car had been repaired under the recall in 2018 and now it was not in warranty. Obviously the fix performed under the recall was not done properly, or it was otherwise ineffective. They refuse to fix it at their expense. I had it repaired elsewhere. at my own expense.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

My vehicle has been maintained by the dealer and myself for the 87800 miles that have been put on it. I purchased the vehicle in August of 2016 brand new with 34 miles on it. The motor has a manufacturing defect, the block was built in the same plant (Hermosillo, HERMOSILLO, MEXICO)that other Ecoboost motors were built in that were recalled for the coolant leaking into cylinders via a "fix" which was cutting a channel between the cylinders on the deck of the long block between the cylinder walls, this compromised the integrity of the seal between the cylinder head and head gasket. This allowed coolant to leak into cylinder 4 of my vehicle. Ford has known about the issue for the last several years and continues to make these motors. The dealer I purchased the vehicle from wants $14,000 to replace the motor with a new long block but I would not feel comfortable having that done and would want a crate engine as the other components would now be compromised. I have spent $1200 on replacement coil packs and spark plugs, coolant and oil, all to treat the symptoms. In addition to Fords $260 diagnostic fee at the dealer for a known defect. Ford should not get away with bilking customers for $10,000 plus engine rebuilds - this would likely not last the same miles it has gone currently in my case.

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when he started the vehicle in the mornings he noticed that it would idle roughly and large amounts of white exhaust was issued from the exhaust pipe. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact noted that the vehicle was consuming unusual amounts of coolant that required him to fill the coolant reservoir every week with approximately one quart of coolant. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that coolant had intruded into the engine cylinders. The contact was advised that the engine block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact had researched online and related the failure to manufacturer Technical Service Bulletin Number: 19-2139 Coolant Intrusion into the Cylinder (Engine and Engine Cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
