I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT FOR MY SISTER (SHE DOES NOT HAVE A COMPUTER) WHO HAS FOUND HER FORD FUSION WITH A DEAD BATTERY SEVEN TIMES, STARTING THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. ON FOUR OCCASIONS IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, THREE OTHER TIMES JUMP-STARTED BY HER NEIGHBOR SO SHE COULD GET TO DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS. DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS, SHE CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS THESE APPOINTMENTS. APPARENTLY, THIS DEAD-BATTERY ISSUE IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE FUSIONS. IN JANUARY 2018 FORD ADMITTED THERE IS A BATTERY DRAINING PROBLEM AND INSTRUCTED HER TO HAVE THE PCM REPROGRAMMED (ATTACHMENT 2). IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE DRAINING. IN HER CASE THE BATTERY WAS FOUND DEAD AFTER SITTING STATIONARY IN EACH INSTANCE. THIS PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO CHAPMAN FORD IN SCOTTSDALE AZ. THEY FOUND THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR IN CYLINDER 2 HAD STUCK OPEN FLOODING THE CYLINDER WITH GASOLINE AND COMPROMISING LUBRICATION IN THAT CYLINDER. REPAIR REQUIRES REMOVING ENGINE AND REBUILDING IT. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT OF WHICH 95% IS HIGHWAY MILES. TAKATA RECALL - I DONT KNOW IF THAT APPLIES TO MY CAR. MY WIFE HAD AN ACCIDENT ON MARCH 12 2019 WHERE SHE HIT A TREE. THE IMPACT WAS SO MUCH THAT THE CRADLE OF THE BODY WAS DAMAGED. MY INSURANCE COMPANY IS GEICO , DECLARED THE CAR AS TOTAL LOSS. THE REASON THAT I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT CAR AIRBAGS DID NOT INFLATE THEY WERE NOT ACTIVATED. WHEN YOU SEE THE PICTURE OF DAMAGE YOU WILL BE AMAZED WHY THIS MUST HAVE HAPPENED. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MULLINAX FORD OF OLYMPIA FOR A SQUEAK DURING SUSPENSION JOUNCE. THEY TRACED THE PROBLEM TO A BRAKE LINE RUBBING ON THE SWAY BAR. THEY ALLEGEDLY FIXED THE ISSUE. ON MARCH 5, 2019, I EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE HYDRAULIC FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SKYLINE FORD IN SALEM, OR FOR REPAIRS AND THEY FOUND A BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO RUBBING THE VEHICLE'S SWAY BAR. I BELIEVE THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THIS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND AM REQUESTING A FULL INVESTIGATION DUE TO THE VOLUME OF FORD FUSION VEHICLES ON THE ROAD AND THE SEVERITY OF A BRAKE HYDRAULIC FAILURE. THE ISSUE MAY BE CONFINED TO "SPORT" MODELS WHICH MAY HAVE A LARGER FRONT SWAY BAR THAN OTHER FUSION MODELS. MY VEHICLE HAS OVER 50,000 MILES WHICH IS ABNORMALLY HIGH FOR A 2017 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE.
