NHTSA Campaign: 25V442000 SAFETY RECALL
200.1K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 27, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Bronco, 2023 Super Duty F-250, and 2019-2023 Ranger vehicles. The Tire and Loading Information (TREAD) label states the incorrect load carrying capacity, which can result in an overloaded vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Potential Risk:
An overloaded vehicle increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will mail a new TREAD label to install over the existing label, free of charge. Recall Date: Oct 15, 2021
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Ford Ranger Super Cab vehicles. The front passenger outboard seat belt may not have been assembled properly, allowing the seat belt to be misrouted. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."

Potential Risk:
A misrouted seat belt may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will provide owners with instructions to perform a preliminary inspection of their front seat belts. Owners that detect an issue with the driver's seat belt, are unsure of the results, or do not want to perform an inspection, should not drive their vehicles and contact a Ford dealership. 2.5K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: May 13, 2019
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Ranger vehicles. The fasteners that attach the transmission shifter cable bracket to the transmission may loosen allowing the transmission to be in a different gear than indicated by the gear shift lever position.

Potential Risk:
If the gear shift lever position does not match the actual transmission gear, the vehicle may move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, despite selecting 'Park', if the parking brake is not applied before the vehicle is exited, the vehicle may roll. Either scenario increases the risk of crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the transmission shift cable bracket fasteners as necessary, and verify the proper transmission shift operation, free of charge. Recall Date: Feb 1, 2019
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Ranger vehicles equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions. In some of these vehicles, the transmission shift lever can be moved from the "Park" position without the key in the starting system and without depressing the brake pedal. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection."

Potential Risk:
If the vehicle can be shifted out of Park without the brake applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move. Unintentional vehicle movement can increase the risk of injury or crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford has notified owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the transmission floor shift selector interlock assembly, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 22, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C02.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

My transmission failed on the highway. I was merging on the highway one day and all of a sudden I felt a sudden reduction in power which was dangerous for the people behind me, and heard an awful grinding/whining noise. I immediately limped it to the dealership and was told several days later the transmission (Ford 10R80) had a catastrophic failure and was lucky to get it to the dealership. This is unacceptable and I know I’m not the only one with issues with these transmissions. The dealership told me it happens all the time. This is a safety issue and unacceptable for the truck that is 5 years old.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Own a 2019 Ford Ranger, which is experiencing severe transmission issues including harsh and delayed shifting. A diagnostic scan revealed code P07F7-00, which matches Ford's TSB 24-2046 / 25-2024, related to known defects in the 10R80 10-speed transmission. Despite this being a documented issue, authorized Ford dealerships have refused to properly diagnose the TSB entirely and claiming it was no longer valid. This unresolved defect affects the safety and reliability of my vehicle. I am filing a complaint to request that the NHTSA investigate this widespread problem and consider issuing a recall to address the transmission defect affecting many Ford Rangers (and other vehicles with this transmission). Thank you for your attention to this serious safety concern.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

The transmission in my truck has worked excellently with no sign of wear or degredation in performance, that was until the transmission suddenly began hesitating and slamming into gear. This is a common problem with this vehicle and is reported online incredibly frequently, while this may seem like a simple mechanical issue it did cause a completely lost of power when making a left hand turn which nearly caused me to be T-bone'd by oncoming traffic, and the hard shifting makes throttle response incredibly unpredictable. Please help us with this, there are recalls on the transmission in these trucks in multiple other countries with the chance of death as a consequence being openly stated. Me and my loved ones were almost killed because of this transmission which has widespread problems and NEEDS to be recalled before someone does lose their life. Ford has claimed this to be due to the adaptive learning software in the truck, but coincidentally has also redesigned a critical component in the transmission that causes these types issues three times now, but with zero effort to notify the customer of the risk or to openly address the problem.

SEATS

Potential Consequences:

I HAD NOTED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THAT THE BACK OS THE BACK SEAT WOULD NOT LATCH LEAVING IT TO SWING FORWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND SLAMMING BACK WHEN ACCELERATING. WHEN I CHECKED THE LATCH I COULD NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK INTO CAPITAL FORD IN CARSON CITY FOR SOME OTHER PROBLEM AND ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE SEAT PROBLEM. AFTER OTHER REPAIRS WERE DONE, MY SERVICE ADVISOR, JOSEPH CONROY ADVISED ME THAT THE REPAIR OF THE SEAT WOULD COST APPROX. $400-$500. CONROY ALSO RELATED THAT THE LATCH PART WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE PART TO FAIL AND HE REPLIED BY SAYING THAT THE PART HAD GONE THROUGH A RE-DESIGN AND A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE REPAIR WAS SENT OUT TO DEALERSHIPS. WHEN I SAID THAT THIS APPEARED TO BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE AND THAT I HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF THE PART REDESIGN, HE TOLD ME TO CONTACT FORD. I CONTACTED FORD AND WAS ASSIGNED TO "LAPORTIA" AS MY ADVISOR AND SHE IS WORKING TOWARDS SECURING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, BUT NO INTEREST IN THE SAFETY ASPECT OF THE COMPLAINT. MY TRUCK'S ORIGINAL WARRANTY ENDED JUST THIS PAST DECEMBER BUT IS STILL COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.
