SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

The rear brakes on my 2023 accord started making squealing/grinding noise in reverse each morning. the noise was not the normal noise heard when the brakes are moist in the mornings. I went to the dealer with this complaint 3 times and was told a different story each time. yesterday they informed me that the pads and rotors are in need of replacement. the vehicle has 16,500 miles on it. I believe after talking to the service manager that honda is aware of this issue and should issue a recall before there is a brake failure and people get hurt.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle has had safety warning since February 2023. Parts required have been on “back order” with dates continually changing and moving out and dealership or Honda not able to resolve the issue or determine when repairs can be made. Current parts estimated shipment has moved to September 2023. Online search to attempt to purchase parts from Factory direct or any other location return a “part discontinued” listing with no replacement. Part numbers at issue to resolve safety issue are Honda part numbers 39680TZAJ01YE and 39680TZAJ01ZE. This leaves me with a vehicle that has diminished safety features and Honda not able to provide any realistic dates for a solution.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

My daughter and I just bought this 2022 Honda Accord on 04/29/2023. On 6/28/2023, she was headed home, driving North, and was coming to the busy intersection of a County Road and Highway. She went to brake, but the brakes did not respond. In order to avoid hitting another vehicle, she swerved and blew through the intersection. Thank goodness she did not hit anyone in the intersection AND no one hit her. It could have been so bad. She did come to rest in a farmer's field on the Northeast corner of the intersection. According to the shop that is currently processing the claim with State Farm and investigating the repairs and damage, many error lights are lit up on the dash as relates to the brakes, forward collision warning, and emergency braking. They indicated that they need to work with Honda to clear, verify, and repair everything related to those codes. The vehicle is scheduled to be towed to Honda of Greeley on Wednesday, 7/19/2023. In my research, I did see the NHTSA Acknowledgment of Recall Letter just signed on 06/22/2023 by Alex Ansley for the 2022 Honda Accord, indicating that a recall would be issued in regards to an issue with the brakes, that may be related to my daughter's accident. I also read further that the actual recall letters would be mailed out 07/24/2023. I am just not sure if this would also cover the 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid.

VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY

Potential Consequences:

Today on May 13th 2023 I was driving on LIE 495 freeway with my wife. All of sudden we heard the explosion and could hear the air noise from the sunroof. We pulled vehicle on the side and found out glass was broken and there wasn’t any rock or any other object which could cause the damage. We think it’s quality of the glass which could not resonate the heat and pressure could have caused.

STEERING

Potential Consequences:

The first time (approximate date) you noticed this issue. The first time I noticed this problem was in December last year when I felt that the steering wheel slowly turned to the left with a little bit of Sticky, Stiff, Jerky, and then the steering wheel was adsorbed on the highway, and the resistance was great, so I needed to adjust the steering wheel back and forth, which greatly affected driving safety. This seems to be related to my personal safety. Until now, in February 2023, the problem has always existed and has not been solved. The first time (approximate date) you visited the dealer for this concern. I visited the dealer on February 8, 2023, but the answer they gave was normal and no problem. The last time (approximate date) you visited the dealer for this concern. The last time I visited the dealer was on the morning of February 11, 2023. I used to pick up my car. My car was parked at the dealer on February 8, but the problem was not solved. I still need to use the vehicle. I can't work without the car. I delayed my work, so I went to pick up my car on the morning of February 11. How often does this issue happen within a time frame (e.g.once a month)? This problem happens every day, and there will always be problems with the steering wheel as long as I start driving. I am now afraid of driving this problematic car. It does not give me safety. The car I bought last June has such a serious problem in the past seven months. Where is the reliability of Honda vehicles? Can I still trust the safe and reliable driving quality that Honda brings me? The name & title of the person (s) assisting you at the dealer. The reason/explanation provided by the dealer, as to what caused this issue. The dealer told me that there was no problem and could not be copied, indicating that the steering system was normal and no problem was found. But I asked the service manager Post my video about the problem of turning the steering wheel Sticky, Stiff, Jerky https://www.youtube.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

Potential Consequences:

The Honda is equipped with a Collision Mitigation Braking System. Traveling at around 40 mph on a two lane road, one lane in each opposite direction, the orange brake warning light appeared on the dash. Simultaneously, the brakes were very forcefully applied as if there was going to be an unavoidable collision. There was nothing in front of the vehicle. I called the dealer where we purchased the Honda. The service rep said he had heard of other similar instances, asked what kind of road it was and said to see if it happened again on the same road. He knew of no known fix for the issue. My wife, who was in the back seat, and recently had 3 sections of her neck fused, is currently in a lot of pain. If the road had been a little slippery, all four in the car could have been seriously injured or worse. If there had been a vehicle close behind us, there is a good chance we would have been rear ended.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Hello, I bought a new Honda Accord Hybrid from Schaumburg Honda, Illinois on 11/23/2022. Within one week of buying the car, the following error messages appeared on the dashboard with the Brake System light on 1.Adaptive Cruise Control Systems Problem See Dealer 2.Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem See Dealer 3.Road Departure Mitigation System Problem See Dealer I took my car to the dealer at Schaumburg Honda on 12/13/2022 and they inspected the car and said they did not find anything defective and reset the error codes. After one week, adding about 30 miles, I had the same error message displayed. I contacted Honda and raised a complaint – 13553020 reading this issue and on their advice, I had my car checked by a different dealer Valley Honda at Naperville on 12/27/2022. They did the same and drove the car for another 30 miles and the code was gone. Again after two weeks, the same error messages are on the dashboard. I stopped using the car as it was a safety hazard to dive with the brake system malfunctioning and updated Honda the same. The car has been used for daily commutes for work and driving within 40 miles per hour depending on the allowed speed limits. Even though this qualifies as a lemon car but Honda is declining and asking me to take it to the dealer again (3rd time). The defects of the car substantially impacted my ability to use the vehicle. The defects also rendered the vehicle unsafe for use. Regards [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Defect Description:

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

The stationary window on the back passenger side shattered while the car was parked in the driveway on a very hot day. There did not appear to be any single point of contact. The glass was uniformly shattered. First off—I took the car to the dealer and they didnt even bother to look at it and said I would have to file a claim with Honda which I did. Then the dealer said the window must have been struck by a rock by looking at a few pictures that I submitted and Honda customer representative ghosted me and wouldn’t answer when I called or return VMs. There were fine glass splinters on the inside of the car from the window which would be a safety issue.
