Safety Issue:
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles. A software error may cause intermittent or continuous disruptions in communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components. This may result in malfunctions of various systems such as the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, audible warning of a stopped vehicle, and power window operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems" and number 111, "Rear Visibility" as well as FMVSS numbers 104, 108, 114, 118, and 305.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
The vehicle had a very violent shift (perhaps it was turbo lag related?) at low speed (under 20 miles per hour - typically, this happens in a parking lot or the like as you slowly drive away). In the past, this had been mentioned to the dealer, numerous times, who claimed that the issue is not reproducible. However, during the visit on 12/06/2022, dealer mechanic(s) claimed that they did witness the issue and the fix the performed the following (per dealer's notes): "reset TCM and Batter cable reset." after which (the dealer notes state): "Let the customer know that the trans will adapt to driving habits within 200 miles. If the customer drives hard, the transmission will learn hard to shift hard etc..." The second statement is nonsensical, since, most of the time the transmission shifts relatively fine, regardless of the driving pattern (i.e. hard, mellow, etc.) and the issue happens intermittently (every so many hundreds miles driven), at very low speeds with very little accelerator input, which indicates more of a software issue (and, possibly a mechanical design defect, coupled with the SW issue). Again, Honda has refused to properly troubleshoot and address the issue. There are now other customers with, what sound like, a very similar problem: [XXX] And, just as with my vehicle, other dealers are claiming "there is no issue" and Honda has ignored the issues. They came back with the diagnosis of my HeadGaskit needs to be replaced my fuel injectors are miss firing and the piston rings needs to be replaced. I have 84,998 miles on the car and all of the maintenance records are up to date. Honda gave me a price of $4,800+ to have it fixed. Where I’m concerned at is how can these many problems happen at one time and I had know warning signs it just stopped running all of a sudden.

We were told the fuel injectors were bad. This put us and others at risk as the car stopped moving when we pulled into traffic. The problem has been confirmed by the Honda Cars of Rock Hill dealership. The vehicle has been inspected by the Honda Cars of Rock Hill dealership. There were no warming lamps or messages that appeared before this happened.

While driving at 35-40 mph the AEB braking system activated without cause. There was no vehicle, person or object in front of the car so the sensor should not have activated. Potential Consequences:
while driving in highway, all dash light slit up like a Christmas Tree and vehicle lost power. I was not able to go over 30 mph and was in danger of being rear ended on freeway. I was able to pull over to safety and turn vehicle off. Upon restarting the vehicle, I was able to make it back home. This has happened on 3-4 diff occasions. Honda is not accepting responsibility. They continuously refer me to Honda dealer to be ripped off for a diagnostic. There are several forums online complaining about the same issue. My battery and alternator is good. Please help and hold Honda accountable to their negligence in the build of these vehicles.

I was traveling on interstate 65 in alabama running about 70 mph when suddenly the brakes slammed on automatically. The car behind me had to swerve over in the next lane to keep from hitting me from behind. this is the 3rd time this has happened but this last time almost caused a wreck. i AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR NOW. The dealer kept the car for 2 days but could not reproduce this . the dash board started flashing brake. All 3 times there was no car in front or beside me.
