FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

In April 2023, our car's dashboard lit-up and we took the car to the Honda dealership. The service center diagnosed a misfiring cylinder caused by a fuel injection system problem, and we were advised that all fuel injectors need replaced. Symptoms of the fuel injector issue would be less vehicle power and the potential to stall completely, and the service center informed us to avoid driving long distances but that the fuel injectors were on national backorder. Honda has not provided any timeline or updates, or a loaner vehicle in the interim, even though it has been nearly 2 months. There were no warnings beforehand, and driving without replacing the fuel injectors is dangerous due to the risk of stalling. It has been stated this is not a unique issue, and the service center has multiple people waiting on these parts and fixes.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

About two months ago when I was driving home from work, my car slowing down suddenly and it would not accelerate, so I pulled over to the side and cut it off the engine for 2 minutes then I started the engine back and it seems like nothing happened, I drove my car like normal everyday. Then one month later all the warning light came up so I called the honda service and I have to leave my car over there, then they called me, it has a problem with Fuel injector and it will cost about $1400 to replace the part and I said go head and fix it. They called me back that they could not get the part due to the back ordered and they do not know when they gonna get the part. They said it could be 7 days to 12 months to get that part. I am pretty upset about this matter. How can Honda do not have that part?? Anyway my car only has 32,000 mile and I always take car my car and it had problem already. I had Honda accord 2014 before and had no problem at all, that is why I bought another Honda Accord. It is such a disappointment and I can not believe that they don’t have the part to fix the problem. I always like Honda for my car but I think I will not gonna buy Honda for my next car if they can not fix this problem.

Additional Notes:

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

On Easter 2023, my family and I were traveling when the check engine light came on. A warning indicated there may be an emissions problem. I contacted my local dealership the following morning and was told that there was a safety recall on seatbelts ( had no idea) and that I’d have to wait until 5/1 in order to get a loaner. I was advised if I brought the car in sooner, I wouldn’t be allowed to leave in it if needed parts weren’t available. I was told that the car was safe to drive as long as check engine didn’t flash. On 4/26, I was a block away from my home when several warnings began to illuminate all at once- “adaptive cruise control is failing, see dealer”, “ collision mitigation braking system failure, see dealer” among several more warnings. I contacted the dealership again and was told to keep my appointment the following week. I took my car in on 5/1 and was told that I needed to replace fuel injectors at 68k miles! I was quoted $2100 for the repair and parts however the part can’t be located due to being on a critical back order. It seems that staff at Honda have been provided a script to ask consumers to pay for the part in order to be given an eta which is ridiculous. I questioned why the dealership couldn’t order the part and I pay once it arrives to ensure my car received the part. 2 weeks later and still no ETA. Honda should honor their brand and customers and issue a recall as I’ve read this is a frequent problem on the 2018 model Accords.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Check engine and 11 other warning lights appear. Dealership reports it as faulty fuel injectors and driving should be avoided or limited. The repair is covered under an extended warranty as there is apparently a known issue with design of the parts used in manufacturing. The issue is no parts are available to repair it under warranty however dealership claims they can fix it for cost of about $1500 using “other fuel injectors.”
